hi all
hope this isnt a topic thats been covered much. ive done some research but not found the answer to my question.
im comparing the gsxr 600 k4/k5 with the kawa b1h and c1h
the kwak always seems to be noticeably cheaper than the equivalent than the gsxr and I dont know why? reviews I've read say that the kwak is a bit quicker with the extra 37cc and that build quality between the 2 is quite similar
can anyone enlighten me as to why this is?
im looking to upgrade from my bandit 6 this winter to get something sportier and to do some trackdays on
thanks ____________________ Bandit 600 |

You're definitely better off with the Kawasaki. IMO you get much more bang for your buck with the magnesium casings, suspension, clocks etc.
I've owned a GSXR, R6 and 2 zx6rs (one 2001, and currently an 05 636). Albeit my gsxr was a srad, and my r6 was a 5eb, so no real comparason.
Look at the R6 in the pricerange of the c6f/c1h... It still has RWU forks etc. GSXR is just old tech living off a name. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. As matt said the C is full of trick bits, the lightweight wheels, slipper clutch, gp style swing arm, under-seat exhaust. Also it's a beautiful looking machine.
The B models are great, but consider them as the standard version and the C models the 'R' version. There was that much of a leap in refinement. |
Only the 06 bike had the slipper, but even if you pick up an 05, the clutch swaps straight over and costs about £80
The b1h and b2h are considered less bulky, better handling bikes ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. Wait until Christmas time and Im sure you'll be able to pick up b1h for just over 2grand, be it a bit high mileage. That's actually my plan for this year, unless an uber cheap cbr 600rr or gsxr k4 pops up. ____________________ Theory Passed: 23/10/2008 49/74 Bike Test Passed: 05/01/2009 1 minor

Kawasakis tend to be cheaper, because traditionally Kawasaki slash the price of their new stock near the end of their life. This then hurts the used price too.
They're both cracking bikes to be honest. ____________________ My Flickr |

I havn't done the upgrade, hence how I know my bike (2005) doesn't have a slipper clutch. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. the C models have a slipper clutch as standard,
as does the 599cc rr B model, seems odd why your bike lacks one
to my memory the only changes to the 06 model were colour options ____________________ they say the good die young... i say we just live faster |

if that's the case, I've never noticed it working, no matter how hard I ride it.
I'm sure I read somewhere the 05 bikes didn't have it ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. If he doesn't, he's going to have a wait on his hands as i've found out.
I've been looking since around the end of april for a b1h at a reasonable price. People are advertising them at laughable prices wherever i've looked, ebay, pistonheads, autotrader, mcn etc, and aren't willing to shift for much less than advertised. I know what they're worth, checked parkers guide, old used prices i've seen em go for etc, which is why i haven't paid over the odds for one, but i've seen people advertising 15k+ 03 plates @ £3500!
One was even at just under 4 grand. Only a few hundred quid less than they were new. Some have been for sale since april, but yet they're still not budging on price.
Missed out on one the other day because i forgot it was ending. 8k on the clocks, in black, £2070 it went for. A more realistic price imho.
I guess what im trying to say with my rant is, im fed up of dickheads expecting the world for an 8 yr old bike, so if anyone has a good condition lowish mile B1H for sale (candy blue or black), at a decent price, get in touch. This cash is starting to burn a hole. |
