The head on my indicator lens screw was so rusty and knackered i had to cut the remaining plastic from what was left of my old indicator lens off the screw to remove it.
Now i cant find a replacement anywhere. Been to a hardware store today and they dont have any screws in the right diameter and thread size. Already snapped the plastic off my new indicator lens by using a screw which i thought would fit, in the end just glued the lens on and it seems ok now.
But i ordered another lens and i want to screw it on, any ideas where i can find the right screw? its for a GZ125...

go to some motor factors or a specialist company that does screws, bolts and nuts.

ie namrick:

well i believe the indicator screw is a self tapper type screw.

ie one of these: https://www.adfasteners.com/images/self_tapping_screws_2.jpg

so generally its the diameter and length you need to find out by measuring the old screw.

Take it to the shop and they will pair you up with a new one, there only like 15p

I can confirm that the type of screw you are looking for (generally self tapping light lens screws) falls into the generally unobtainable category. It's quite hard to find one the right size it terms of length/diameter/pitch, but you can find something close enough. Once you've done that, as you've discovered, the head is far too big.

You can turn down the head using a electric drill and a file, but be warned that if it's a plated screw (which it will be unless you specifically asked for stainless) then it will rust in no time.

Tell me the size your looking for. I have a box of small self tappers that I can take a look in.

Annoying fiddly fragile things. I'd just drill a 3mm hole right through the whole unit, fit a long bolt, and put a spring washer and nut on the back of it.

I'll just leave it glued, fuck it. Ive already cracked it off today with not much force and didnt leave any marks, bulb was playing up so i just cleaned it, put it back and re glued. Seems to hold well, after all nothing is ever going to stress the join anyway...
