 |
|
Hi all
Currently got a pair of nakered Berik boots which are going to be no good for winter.
I've seen some which look like summer boots but say waterproof etc like 'Sidi rains' but do they keep your feet warm?
Main thing in winter is staying warm and dry, do you have any experiences on some good winter boots anything under £150.
Thanks ____________________ Rides: Honda XR 125 ('03) Honda CBR 600F ('91), Ducati 916 Biposto ('95) |

No expert on riding gear, this is my first winter, but logically thinking you need something waterproof to keep the snow/slush/rain out and something that will also keep the wind out.
If there's no wind then your body heat will warm up the air inside your boot and you'll be fine.
I don't have loads of money, so I bought myself some of these which were, well, £50+P&P as the eBay page says They've kept the feet warm so far. ____________________ 2004 R1 & 2018 XSR900 |

to stinkwheel for the idea:
Goretex lined army grade 1 surplus boots = £25
Tin of dubbin = £2.50
+
Waterproof socks = £10 (grade 1 surplus) to £25 (new Sealskinz)
You're lacking ankle protection, and that's about it. I've never been massively convinced by the usefulness of a couple of little plastic disks anyway. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

As above but with regular summer boots. Dubbin or similar stuff from a horse tack place and Sealskinz... toasty. ____________________ Triumph Daytona 675 track bike + girlfriend's Honda Hornet 600

i had some of those last year. BAG OF SHITE! lasted about 2 months abd dropped to bits! get a decent pair of boots, and its all about layers! 2 thin socks then a thick pair then 1 more thin over the top, lovely and warm! ____________________ Past Rides: Sym Jet Euro X, Gilera DNA, Aprillia RS125 (Spains No1 Replica), 1991 Honda NSF, 2006 Honda CG125, 1992 Honda CB400 Super Four, 2000 VFR800 FY-I

I rode like this for years, and it works great.
However, I now have "proper" bike boots and in my book they're worth the extra money for just not having to do up laces any more |

I bought some Bullson sheltext Maddox boots from the Hein Gericke outlet on ebay for £30 - they only had the lining of one boot caught in the zipper so with a little wiggle it was out and perfectly good. Nice and warm and my feet have never been wet in them even after 2 hours on the A38 in torrential rain two years ago.
They often have a lot of crap on there but you can sometimes get a really good deal:
