Completely agree mate, I did mine with 10 years of driving experience and got 46!! If I had of failed I would have asked for a complete breakdown of when I clicked and where the hazard was.
That is the main problem with the hazard perception test - it is of no help unless someone tells inexperienced drivers where the hazards were so they can see what they missed.
I wrote to Top Gear just after I did mine suggesting that they get a group of people to do the test;
A motor racing driver of any discipline
A police driver
A highly experienced driver
A driver with less than a years experience
A learner driver
and a bloke just randomly clicking
and see what the results were. I'd guess that the randomly clicking guy would pass!!
Still at least you passed it!!

to the HPT test.
Absolute waste of time, completely insane.
Its 100% to do with the way you manipulate the programs algorithms and 0% to do with perceiving hazards. |

I did it on wednesday - passed with 58 marks, but yeah, it seemed pretty confused and random to me. I'm fairly sure I clicked in plenty of time for everything, and like you, I wasnt sure if I had clicked before the program started the 5 point countdown for each hazard.
It doesnt help that the explanations and examples aren't all that clear either.

I only just passed myself a few weeks ago, 47 i got.
When I got the form back, it said I scored zero on 2 of the clips but I was positive I would of done better than that.
Never mind though, a pass is a pass to me so be happy and get your bike test passed next. ____________________ Aprilia RSV Mille R Edwards Replica - Aprilia RS250 - Suzuki GSXR600 Supersport Race Bike |

I would agree.
I got a better mark the first time I did it, then the second after I'd had a year on the road. ____________________ TT600 neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeowwww! |

Slight OT for this post:-
Does anyone here know if I have to take the theory (and HPT) again? I took my car test about 2 years ago in a 4.0 Jeep and passed. My theory test for the car is now over 2.5 years old. I took my theory test for the Full bike direct access thing about two months ago, passed and done the practical and passed. Now I'm bored and want to take the car test, but this time manual (4 litre jeeps are automatic). My question is - do I have to take another theory test....arrgh!!!!! ____________________ **** Don't ride faster than your angel can fly Get this Free Space

VTR SP1, have you done the HPT test?
To give you an example you see on the video a car pulling up to the junction 100m ahead... I know the make, model and colour of the car, and I know its going to pull out... I saw it with hundreds of meters to spare.
But when do I click? I clicked when I saw it hundreds of meters away, and also when it started to move.
And I just passed? I simply could not have spotted the car earlier... Why did I just scrape a pass?
Thats my point. You seem to have misunderstood my rant. There wasnt a single hazard video which I didnt predict with a sigh and theyre so obvious, its just so confusing what youre supposed to do about it (with the mouse)... |

Its so easy you have to click a few times, just in case you clicked too early, and the computer didnt even "register" as the start of the potential hazard.
I think it is for the very silly people, or the people that really have no clue, or complete beginners. There are these kinds of people around. But then surley you should have had some lessons before you go for the theory test, so you would pretty much know them all anyway.
If its so easy stop complaining, doent matter if you will ace it anyway. . Just "play" it right, and its really easy. I can see how it can help some people, most are good enough. I think if you prepare for it, using the CD it may help you to get to know road situations, which would be useful for a new rider/driver. Preparing is where you would learn all the stuff, not passing the HPT... well that and on the road.
Haha the car drives so slowly! Like 10mph. . then, for example some stupid dumb horse pops out round the corner. hehe. |

I bought the C.D's for my better half when she was learning for her bike theory, and for a bit of light relief, used to 'play' them myself.
The fact that I never got into the 70's was a bit worrying as far as i'm concerned.
The problem is that you lose points when you continually click the mouse, BUT how can you be sure that you clicked on the hazard that the system wanted you to click on?!
Good example of this was when I was watching one going down a terraced road, with cars parked on either side (hazard enough in my book) approached a junction on the left (hazard) someone got into one of the cars, passenger side (hazard, the driver might pull out) and then turned left at a junction on the end of the road (hazard, remember there are cars parked on both sides of the road) and towards a pedestrian crossing (hazard) where some birds flew off from the road.
The hazard it wanted?
The bloody birds!
I'm so glad I didn't have to do it, it's just too random! ____________________ You will become my force of retribution. Where you tread, doom will follow. Go now and claim your destiny |
