Posted: 18:32 - 04 Nov 2011 Post subject: Best way to ride in Deep Rain |
 |
|
Just got back in from the torrential rain that we have had, but on the journey back had to ride in knee deep rain. Now the way I was riding it was lift both legs up to control the tank with my knees and then use full acceleration to get through (road ahead was clear nothing on the pavement).
Now that is considered dangerous and most probably going get some bad replies,
However what is the best way to ride in that situation ?
(to note seen a load of cars stall in the rain) ____________________ CB125>CG125>GN125>ER5>K100RS>R1100RS>K100RS

We had torrential rain last night and this morning so the best way is take the car, which I did
Yea, I'm a freakin wimp, BUT in my defense I STILL don't have decent waterproofs for my nether regions!
Sorry, I dunno about bringing the knees up though. I'd just go slow and stuff but knee deep, literally?? That's pretty bad man, sure you don't live somewhere with monsoons?
Kudos to you for riding in that crap mate!! ____________________ My Lane Position is always AWESOME!! |

Pull a massive wheel through the flooded area.
It lifts the engine up so you dont get it flooded and there is technically 50% less chance of aquaplaning.
And as an added bonus, also keeps your feet dry.

Would advise probably not to take my advise but if it is knee deep, I assume it is exhaust height and probably air intake height, dependant on bike.
So if you go slow, you will drown the bike but if you go quicker, your front wheel will give the moses effect so the water spreads outwards, meaning the exhaust and air intake will now be above the water.
You may aquaplane though and I am probably wrong ____________________ Rusty '02 Vito Camper + CBR600F3 |

TBH, if the standing water was really knee deep, and you made it through safely, then I don't think you need any tips - in fact, I'd suggest you should probably be giving lessons to serious off-roaders, adventure riders and the like. ____________________ Space Monkey #7
