Hi all,
I am currently looking for a new (well second hand) motorcycle after recently passing my DAS course. I currently own a Honda CBF 125 which I will shortly be selling and am looking to upgrade to a 600c bike.
I spend a few hours today at my local motorcycle dealership (motorcycles direct) and we looked at around 10-12 bikes that suit my needs. I am 6ft 2" and was concerned that SS bikes would be a little cramped; but they are not.
I have seen a bike I am extremely interested in here;
https://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3191919.htm
I have spoken to the seller and the bike seems ideal for me. There is a slight issue, which is the exhaust. As I am a new rider the insurance is £500 TP, but rises to £1200 TP if the exhaust is declared. I am extremely interested in the bike, but would like advice with regards to the exhaust, as I don't want to have problems if anything did happen.
Should I steer well clear and go for an unmodified Honda CBF 600F instead?
Cheers all |

Before internet police comes and arrests me I have to say that declaring mods like exhaust is pointless, just say its standard and that's that. ____________________ Theory Passed: 23/10/2008 49/74 Bike Test Passed: 05/01/2009 1 minor

As it's a full system it is not so easy to swap back (on mine it's 4 bolts, job done) I bet the noise is spine tingling compared to your single cylinder thumper.
I would keep looking for other quotes, bikesure seam to like modded bikes as long as it doesn't add performance |

likewise on the exhaust. Failing that, just buy an end can, as it'll be cheaper, and 10x less hassle to fit. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. Limit yourself to about 7K rpm in the first couple of gears at first, I test rode a 2011 ZX6 and at 8K it went batshit mental... Addictive but I was used to a 70bhp bike, you are used to a 15bhp bike.
At first you will be like but you will soon get used to it.
You will notice 4 things quickly
The speed
The brakes
The weight of the thing, its no porker for a bike but will need more care at low speeds
The lack of steering lock, the CG used to U turn in my street with 3-4 foot to spare, both the SV and now the D650 both need a 3 pointer.
With that full arrow system it will sound gorgeous, relax and enjoy it |

I have the B1H, that bike has a slipper clutch and some upgrades I believe. It's a great first big bike, the power is good, and it's a Ninja.
Ninja's are the best. ____________________ Hit the G spot. |

Silly question maybe, but when you go and collect the bike could you not nip down to the post office with the current owner and give him the cash to tax it for you? Tax disc there and then..problem solved? |
