I felt that you needed advice - browse the forums when you first start, because it's a bottomless pit of info...

https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=31870

BTW, it's £60 and 3 points on your licence, at the moment at least...

It flashes twice, only 1 in 4 drivers get penalised and as Rollins has already said it's £60 and 3 points.

Don't forget you can't get done if facing them camera because bikes don't have front number plates, though some old bikes still have bacon slicers. I believe you couldn't get done by a Gatso facing it anyway as it reads the back of a car, but get you can get caught by a Truvelo in car facing forward. Smile

But not on a bike yet Very Happy

Be wary of the new breed of SPECS cameras - they clock your average speed over several miles using magic, and it don't matter if you're riding, in a cage, changing lanes, going backwards... as they can still screw your licence without you even knowing they're there.

BTW, if you're only on L plates, then don't worry as the SPECS are only on the motorways... for now.

It would depend how fast your going.

If your only a little over the speed limit, you'll probably get a Fixed penalty notice which is £60 and three points.

If your significantly over the speed limit your more than likely to get a courts summons and more points.

Don't think the new bit of SPECS terrorist devices are yet installed anywhere, but the normal SPECS cameras are in quite a few areas, such as the Nottingham ring road.

All the best

the A631 between Gainsboro and Bawtry has a 50mph speedlimit (which includes two long stretches of dual carriageway ffs Evil or Very Mad ) and has SPECS - it also has huge signs at the approach telling you that your average speed is being monitored - and it has a stretch of 30mph through a village in the middle as well

If you do not receive any notification of offence within 10 working days then any case will be dropped.

No, it must be sent to normally arrive within 14 days, and they need no proof to support their claims that they complied with this.

All the best

also it appears that you are allowed 12 points on your provisional, yet when you pass your full test you have 2 years of probationary with only been allowed 6 points :/

in my opinion this is a stupid system as if a provisional rider was to ride a bike with no l plates or insurance they could get away with 6 points and a £135 fine yet if a full licence holder was to do the same there licence would be revoked Neutral
