I ride mostly inner city centre London and I feel safer there than I do on a country road just due to less surface dangers. However I do enjoy the country side blasts.

Which do you prefer or do you find yourself just enduring one or the other.

both are great . the only reason i prefer country is because there is not so much traffic if any. feel i can enjoy the ride more in the country .infact sometimes i enjoy it so much i have to stop and get off to have a dance or jump around a bit purely because the rides made me so happy .riding city roads or the b roads around them ive never experienced that feeling . so i vote country + in the country its a lot easier to get lost

I enjoy riding the sweeping bends when out in the country on a weekend blast... but I also enjoy a certain feeling of achievement when filtering around the city too.

But given the choice, my leisure time would be spent riding the country roads Thumbs Up

Country, I hate traffic and trying to squeeze through tiny gaps.

Country for fun, although city riding doesn't really bother me.

Country riding's easier IMO. It's easier to account for surface changes than it is for what the moron next to you is about to do.

I do love country riding - but I'd love it a lot more if I could be definite that there was no on-coming traffic around that blind corner/over that bridge Laughing

I've never ridden in a city (yet), but I do get this great satisfaction from filtering. So much so that when the bike failed its MOT, and I had to catch the bus, I took the following day off college because I hated being stuck in rush hour traffic just that much Laughing

But personally I have have the best of both worlds Thumbs Up Take the country lanes to the town that college is in, then filter through the traffic when there Cool

I ride both.

I've been in zone 1 a few times but London is pathetic for an enjoyable ride out. There are traffic lights ever 100 meters

Does the question really need asking?

City:

Traffic
Cameras
Traffic Lights
Pedestrians
20/30 limits
Speed bumps
Overpriced urban amenities

Country:

Open roads
National limits
Beautiful scenery
Challenging corners
Jumps
Village pubs and cafes

You can forgive the odd bit of horse sh*t and gravel.

So far it has got to be city for me only because going 50mph on some of the country roads I know is too dangerous with my level of riding.. however the A53 is nice.

Living in the countryside means that i really have no choice. i can ride through towns but that's pretty boring IMO unless you're on a small 125.

With a bigger more powerful bike, you've got to get it out somewhere you shouldn't have to sit at traffic lights every 2 minutes.

How big are YOUR chicken strips? Wink

I live in the Dorset country side, the first bit of non pot-holed road I get to is pretty close to the A31 New Forest, outside of that its like dodging bullets for me... does riding down a dual carriage way in the New Forest count as country? Its probably the most boring road I've ever been on!

Countryside gets my vote for most situations, although I'm perfectly happy in London on my daily commute. It beats any other form of transport into the city.

Another good point to remember about city riding is late nights/very early mornings. A city devoid of all traffic can make for some highly entertaining progress.

I occasionally get to hoon through town at 7:30 on a weekend, whipping through the square mile at silly speeds almost makes up for the combat filtering on a week day!

Why use the A31 when you can use the A35 Christchurch to Lyndhurst... Much nicer road Thumbs Up

It is a shame about the sneaky speed camera vans though. Was nearly caught out by one the last time I was on the way home from an enduro in Landovery.

The road south away from Rhyader is good fun as well.
