I gave a mate of mine my RXS to commute on to uni and back. The other day he called me and said it had broken down outside uni and wouldn't start I asked him about the reserve and he said he had only done 20 miles since he filled up. He called the AA and the guy found out the tank was bone dry. Obviously someone had unclipped the petrol hose at uni drained out most of the petrol and clipped it back. Is there any decent way to prevent this? I thought clamping the hose with Jubilee clips but then I was worried that they would just cut through the hose causing even more trouble. Is there any braided/re enforced hose out there? This was done where all the Bikes park in broad day light.

I would have loved to have caught them doing it. A swift boot to the face then half a dozen to the testicles while he is on the floor.

I use a jubilee clip on mine, it's fine as long as you don't go crazy on the tightening - hopefully enough of a deterrent for them to move onto the next bike......fucking scum!

You sure it isn't leaking?

Of all the tanks to drain, an rxs isn't exactly bulk business is it. You would get more collecting all the loose petrol in the hoses at a petrol station.

At a uni it is a different story.

Use with jubilee clips, they would have to use proper cutters to cut it but will stop a knife.

Leaking about 7/8 litres of petrol in a couple of days? No.

Checked for any CCTV? Report it as a theft to the police and the UNI.

Not sure about the RXS but the CBR has a vacuum tap on the fuel tank, surely it isn't that simple to drain the fuel from the RXS by just removing the hose?

RXS will just be gravity fed, if you take the hose off, it all leaks out Wink

Your CBR will have a 'Prime' setting which will let the fuel flow without vaccum from the engine...

It's a very hard thing to 'scrote proof' but what I did to the cg was to wrap steel wire round the ends with the ends left pokeing out and sharp, the hope was that any scrote messing with it would grab hold and leave a nice blood sample behind Twisted Evil

Get some steel braided line
Attach battery to it via a simple switch to electrify it (could use a capacity to add extra punch).
Flick switch on when parked up.
Anyone touching it gets an electric shock.
?????
Profit

Putting it to a battery will only put 12v into your metal fuel pipe connected to your metal fuel tank. Won't cause a major fire at all.

To get any kick it'd need to be connected to a coil and something to make it pulse

You'd probably be able to smell it if all that fuel leaked out. As others have said, ask the Uni for the CCTV.

A sensitive-ish alarm might've helped.

Probably not considering the 6v electrics stuggle to light the indicators half the time. Laughing

He doesn't ride it enough for that, I think this is only his second fill up since he has owned it!
