id stay away from the vt500, ive owned one before and while it didnt give me too many hassels, it was an arse to get parts for, and that inboard disc is just a prick of an idea,
the xtz will hold its price quite well, i'd pay that money for it,
if i was back in the uk, id probably buy it sight unseen,
but try and knock a 100 or 2 off the price ____________________ the humans are dead

You must have come into some money since you could barely scrape together £600 to buy your Bros.
The impression that I'm getting is that you'll never be happy with the bike you've got, and that you'll end either stacking one or buying an epic shed because never your mind on where you are. Hmm? What you are doing.

I'm only 5'5" with short stubby legs (probably a 30" inside leg)
The guys dropped the seat for me as low as it would go, so I was on tippy toes anyway, if I had one foot flat on the ground, the other was dangling at least 6-8 inches.
Me being a fat bastard also seemed to help keep it stable, too. One time a guy who was roughly the same height as me (but probably half my weight) sat on it and he couldn't keep it balanced or get his feet on the floor. ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

If I had to pull up alongside police cars, I tended to keep the foot nearest them on the floor ... if I was in front of them, I'd normally have put the other on the footpeg anyway
Never lost control of it (except once, at a funeral when I dumped it on the ground for some odd reason) ... although I was still pretty much of a noob when I had it running.
Only two times (!!) I came across a hill-start that was too steep for me, and I had to park it up and get a guy to get up it for me. Luckily I was riding with someone else each time (rare for me, I tend to ride solitary) ... but both times (once, heavy rainstorm, post-Bulldog Bash and probably hung-over), and second at a funeral of a very dear friend) ... I like to think I was emotionally bereft on both occasions
Possibly I rode in high heel boots more often back then, than now when I ride mostly in beaten up old trainers.
Fuck it, too big for me or what, it's still the best bike I've ever owned. And still in bits in me shed ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |
