 |
|
Just managed to ring a place that was recruiting Rouge Recruitment not shore if anyone has heard of them but got an interview on Thursday what would be best to wear?
Told him may be riding down on motorbike and he said that is cool, so not sure .. as wouldn't be able to wear a suit under that.
Just wondered if anyone on here has ever worked in a role of recruiting or able to look at my CV and help me improve it. Having major money troubles at the moment and with little working experience/ possible horrendous Cv having problems finding a job.
So any help regarding the CV would be extremely helpful.
(It has got that bad apparently I don't have enough work experience to work in several charity shops ... maybe it's just me and not the cv.. anyways look forward to replies)

That CV looks all arse-about-face to me.
Education before work experience, work experience going from first to last, duplicate statements in 'Profile' and 'Skills' and so on.
If it were mine, I'd lay it out something like this....

Where to start.....
Look at the points I've made... Your grammar and use of English is poor.
You don't need to quantify all sentences with an 'also' or a 'can'.
I don't know if this is the layout you're using, but the bullets seem to be in the wrong place ( could be just due to copy pasta though).
You need to quantify your skills, how are you a good team worker ? How do you adapt to changes ? I could write 'I have a massive cock' doesn't mean an employer will believe it (although it is true)...
I find it a bit disappointing that kids don't seem to get taught how to write a CV properly nowadays (or write in any form of coherent manner for that matter)..
Sorry if its a bit harsh, but I wouldn't even consider you working for me if that was how you represented yourself, but I hope my criticism makes some sense to you.... ____________________ "I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me." They do get taught.....just not very well. I found that the general package at uni encouraged those types of statements without emphasizing that more detail and personal information relative to one's self should be added.
Not to mention the fact that there's no such thing as a perfect CV, as I tested for myself when taking my CV from lecturer to lecturer, each one making changes, and saying it was perfect, only for the next one to tear it to pieces and change it completely, repeated about 4 times. In the end I ignored all of them and went with what I felt sounded good/right.
With that said writing a CV is a fucking painful process, just spouting out generic bullshit that says a lot without really saying anything, I am due to redo mine and have been putting it off for the last month or so because it literally hurts my brain to think of how many different ways to write what a perspective employer wants to hear without sounding like the other 100 CVs that are landing on their desk. It'd be nice if you could just write down the plain facts and be honest, but sadly that doesn't work.

You went to staffs... So your already at a disadvantage, but don't panic. (ex Keele student )
What year are you in? 1st/ 2nd/ 3rd?
If your in your 3rd year, what grades you heading towards? Pending is an excuse for not doing very well!
What jobs are you applying to? If this was a legal CV it would have met the shredder almost immediately. I'd take your CV to some careers people at staff's to help clear your CV up. You need to bullet point, be clearer and extend your personal skills & hobbies.
If someone looks at your CV with education and no extra information they will think your dull or boring. ____________________ Dave

I apologise, I should have been clearer.
By 30+ you usually have several training courses and employers, whilst most people leaving uni are lucky to have a supermarket job. It helps to show they are the type of person that will fit-in in the office.
I've included stuff like my flying, mechanics and general pro-bono (charity) work as it makes me look better than the other 500-800 applications per position that are also applying. Law is more competitive than ever due to the lack of new training contracts over the past 5years. ____________________ Dave
