There will be about 12 bikes on track...hardly racing at all. ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |

23.
Well 12 GP bikes 4 hondas/yams/dukes and the rest made up of CRT bikes.
It will probably be a bit like when the new teams came into F1 though, they really hyped it up but who really gave a fuck if Virgin or Lotus finished 18th or 19th it made no difference to most people. ____________________ Yamaha FZR400RR 3tj

I suppose they might feel that 25 million can be spent on more effective advertising then sitting at the back of a moto gp grid.
I think one of the big problems is the cost of leasing a bike from the factories, They were saying that you could run 9 CRT bikes for the cost of leasing 1 honda GP bike. With that in mind I can't see the likes of Gresini and LCR competing in GP for too much longer if the CRT thing takes off. The last time a non factory bike won a race was in 2006 with Toni Elias so not once in the 800 era. ____________________ Yamaha FZR400RR 3tj

I'd agree that it's down to cost, £25m might not sound a lot but when some of these companies, even with £10b turnover are loosing money then going racing is a luxury, especially to shareholders who at times dont think further than the end of their nose...
Anyway, I reckon given a few years it'll all be CRT, it sucks to have three factories running at the top (GP) yet tons more in Superbikes, but the investment required is significantly different for both, and superbikes might give more bang for buck on the marketing side, especially because they tie in with the road going models..
It's a shame to see Suzuki drop, partly because they'd started going somewhere and partly because the engineering team was British based so it was I suppose our local team.
However, I dont think there is anypoint in them sending an 800 round which will prob sit at the back of the 1000s once they're getting going, then sit at the back when they're learning the ropes of the 1000 and everyone has got going.
Coming back in 2014 means they can pour engine development into the GSXR lump, aim for a 210/215bhp roadbike with the ability to crank out 250+bhp in racetrim in a CRT frame, now that'd be cool. Of course that relies on CRT getting going.
I'd have liked Suzuki to fund a prototype chassis with the GSXR engine and run a CRT/Factory Hybrid, if the rules allowed it, it'd have kept them in and gave them a jump on CRT, but i'm not sure what the deal is.
More bikes on the grid is obviously better, more battles and all that kind of stuff. I still reckon next year will be good though, 1000s should make racing closer and im hoping for a ducati comeback, not just for Rossi but because with him and haydon and two satellite bikes it might mix the order up a bit. ____________________ Current Bikes: Honda CBR 600RR - '07, Suzuki GSX1250 FA ST '11
