Just make sure it's mouse proof - from personal experience, an old MX lid that hasn't been used for a while seems like a wonderful place for a mouse to build a lovely, cosy nest.

Sounds great, if you're looking forward to moldy gear.
I used to keep a bike, tools and stuff in a similar building, believe me it's not worth it!

Mice is number one problem, but damp is the killer so if it has mice and its is damp you might as well throw it all in the bin.

You've got a border terrier - use it for the purpose for which it was intended.......killing!

(Just make sure there's no hedgehogs in the vicinity)

Empty it out completely, jet wash it or scrub it all out well, give it a couple of coats of masonary paint, fix the door and put some ventilation holes near the top then get something like a small picture frame and wrap it in a pair of tights and fix securely over the vent holes you've drilled, then have a look at a double ( or single depends what you can fit in there ) plastic wardrobe ( like the canvas ones, but, well, plastic ) and I reckon you'll be ok to store either all of or at least some of the gear you hardly wear in there...

Just keep an eye on it...

Kick your rats out from under the stairs Laughing

I keep my gear under there. Put the boots on the floor and have two hanger bracket things. One for my helmet (with gloves in) and then one to hang my jacket up.

I just put my kevlar jeans in my room in my cupboard

Worked with a guy whose mate did this and his bike keys, armour, lid and vfr400 vanished one night.

The Ned bastard must have thought it was christmas.

I wouldn't keep ANY clothing in a metal shed whether in bags or not, the condensation/damp they get is a real killer unless it's fully clad inside with timber not just the floor. Looks newish so he might not have experienced the problems yet.

Suit covers won't cut it, you need the stuff in something that is airtight and watertight.

As Howling Terror said, vaccuum storage bags are probably your best option.

I keep my lid in my garage, plus several pairs of bike boots some leathers plus loads of rags, old clothes etc. None of it has gone mouldy or been eaten by mice yet.

They are on shelves, it is a dry clean brick garage without much access or food for small rodents.

If it is a damp place perhaps not but I will continue leaving my stuff in there.

Cool, maybe for you, a couple of those breathable suit covers will do the trick, for the more expensive items like your ' best ' stuff.

I think the wardrobe as the first barrier will do the trick, btw 20 quid delivered, and thats for the 24 hour delivery ... 17 otherwise.

Thumbs Up
