I have one of those red bottle stoves that apparently run on anything.
I tried it with petrol (smokey and got lots of crud in it), white spirit (needs a long prime).
Parrafin works but needs a lot of priming and makes the bottom of my pans go black and leaves a greasy residue if you spill it and needs regular pricks of the burner thingie.
However coleman fuel burns VERY clean.. £8 for 500ml
But it costs a bomb,
Apparently panel wipe is just coleman fuel (pure naptha) which costs £10-15 for 5 litres, but there are loads of different versions of it.
There is also Aspen 4T which burns very clean but is £17.95 for 5 litres (might as well just use panel wipe at those costs)
I've also had suggested metholated spirits (is this just white spirit?)
Tetrosol paint stripper £8 for 5 litres
What else do you use which is cost effective which burns cleaner than petrol but doesn't cost as much as coleman fuel? ____________________ "It's easy to attack and destroy an act of creation. It's a lot more difficult to perform one" |
