 |

Got on bike to leave for work this morning, and oil level window on side of crank case looked all steamed up. I was worried that water had contaminated the oil, however after a 30 min ride, I pulled over and it seemed to have disappeared.
Is it anything to worry about. Could it be slight water contamination or is it just condensation as its turned very cold. ____________________ Previous Bikes: TZR125, KMX125, RGV250, RD350YPVS, GXSR750H, GSXR600SRAD, R1 (2000), GSXR1000 (K1), ZZR600, CBR1100XX Super Blackbird

Excellent I was worried. Especially, as I've just fitted £300 worth of Wavey discs and sintered pads to her. Thought if the engine, was on way out, it would have been a waste. :o(
but thanks for the reassurance.

Have you maybe dropped a Power Band into the sump?
Or probably condensation due to local ambient conditions.
Excessive Pootle-ing causes massive condensation attacks FYI.... ____________________ W-ireless A-rtificial L-ifeform L-imited to O-bservation P-eacekeeping and E-fficient R-epair |

If there is no white smoke from exhausts and loss of coolant then it's probably condensation.
Next time you come back from a ride leave the oil filler cap off for a few hours. The sight glass will clear.
I have a couple of short journeys to do each week, 5 miles each way isn't long enough to completely warm the engine through so on return i wipe the cap and rest it on the ignition so i can't start it up with the cap off. ____________________ Diabolical homemade music Bandcamp and Soundcloud

^^^Agreed and my breather pipe does drip the occasional drop yet the window stays misted until either it gets a long run or i allow the moisture to vent via the filler. Maybe the routing of some breather pipes doesn't make this as efficient as others. ____________________ Diabolical homemade music Bandcamp and Soundcloud

After my run into work it looked OK. I think it was probably cos the journey I did the night before I noticed it, was only about 3 miles.
Thanks for the info though ____________________ Previous Bikes: TZR125, KMX125, RGV250, RD350YPVS, GXSR750H, GSXR600SRAD, R1 (2000), GSXR1000 (K1), ZZR600, CBR1100XX Super Blackbird
