Take the head off. Put some penetrating oil in and leave it to soak for 24hrs. Then try to move the piston slightly up and down (bottom left casing usually has a bolt that is connected to the crank). If it moves freely and there is no scoring to the barrel you've had a lucky escape. Don't try to force the piston though as that will most likely cause damage. If it does get moving ride it gently to start with or you could risk seizing it again ____________________ XX XXXx

Yep, it looks like your cheapest option is to ring round the breakers to see if you can get another lump, but I'd still remove the spark plug and squirt some WD40 or equivalent in there and try to see if things will move. |

This is about the 23rd one of these ive seen with a seized top end due to lack of oil. ( Works at a Honda dealership).
Itll need a new barrel and piston kit at the very least. ____________________ Suzuki GT250 x7------- Fazer 600------CB250RS------Aprilia Rally 70----- Bandit 600

EFA, and sure. I don't mean to lecture, but your bike came out of a factory that produces 16 million bikes a year, mostly for the domestic Indian market. How likely is it that they're all made to Honda quality standards?
Sight unseen, I'd guess that you ran it in gently (as recommended), didn't seat the piston rings properly and have been gushing more oil than Deepwater Horizon.
Sadly, I think you've got little chance of claiming it as a warranty repair unless you can get your hands on some evidence that it's a manufacturing defect. Maybe someone who's seen 23 of them do it might be persuaded to provide testimony for a Small Claim.
I think that you should press hard for Honda to sort it or at least contribute though. If they don't, then what on Earth did paying Japanese prices buy you? The opportunity to interact with their friendly and helpful dealer network?
In the meantime I'd agree on checking out breakers, or start stripping down the engine yourself - you've got very little to lose at this point. The thought of giving a penny to a Honda main dealer to look at it is just risible. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
