Righty then, was selling my bike and two days before someone came around to view it, the bike has cocked up a bit. The bike runs and rides okay but doesn't start at all by kickstart.

Before it would start first or second kick, now nothing. Even
bumping it before it would start in <3m but now I have to run to 6mph with it before it starts!

A mate had the same sort of problem with the same bike about a month ago. He had the magneto replaced and that fixed his. I had a magneto, coil and magneto all replaced at the beginning of the year due to electrical problems.

So last night I took off the carb, gave it a thorough clean, made sure it was all tight and everything secured properly.

Any ideas? I'm thinking electrics but surely if it was, then it would happen all of the time? But then a mates was cured my a magneto?

Is it worth spending money to fix it and sell it or drop a hundred or two and sell it for that? I really do need the money and want to get rid so I can do my test and ride my bandit but if it is something simple then I am potentially losing money.

Any ideas then fellas?

Ta Thumbs Up

So frustrating cos it runs and rides fine, just it doesn't start. And who wants a bike that doesn't start unless you bump it?

I would start to suspect the crankshaft oil seals, and the only way to be sure is a full engine strip.

Swapped plugs the other day and did fark all. Maybe it was cos it wasnt brand new.

I need to get a light bulb tomorrow anyway so ill grab a plug too.

I'll update tomorrow. Haven't adjusted the screws properly so the plug may just be a bit wet.

Tried a different battery or hooking it up to a car battery to see if it starts then? If so... you get the idea.
Wait is it kickstart only?

Doubt that will make a difference as it starts with no battery but worth a shot.

Laying the bike up in two days as the insurance runs out.

Now another problem has arisen. Twice tonight it has been misfiring above maybe a quarter to a half revs (not throttle).

I'm starting to think definately electrical now. Could it just be a dodgy ht lead/plug cap?

Nope but there is a slot for a carb heater.

Hasn't been anywhere near freezing down here yet anyway and it was fine last year.

They don't look dodgy but I think it's the first port of call as all of the electrics were replaced like 6 months ago! Evil or Very Mad

So now the bike starts but runs like absolute shit, same as last night.

I have changed the ht lead, cleaned out the plug cap.

Then saw the hoses on the vacuum tap were wet so put another vacuum tap on and still the same problem.

Not sure they are sealing right though, the hoses I mean. Think they are too big but they have always been fine Thinking

It seems that when the engine jumps it is throwing out shit loads of oil so I had a look at the oil pump and nothing seems out of place down there so I'm just thinking is the air/fuel mixture not right at throttle. Has the needle got caught or something or is that a stupid idea?

Video

Ignore the taped seat, it's a temporary measure until I get it stitched. And it didn't start as the fuel line was empty.
