What Motorbike festivals have you been to?

What was good about them?

Where do you plan on going next year?

I went to Beaulieu Ride in Day. Was a lovely hot Sunday.
Went to the Brighton Burn up this year and last.

What was good about them? The weather, lots of pretty bikes and the ride there was nice with a few friends.

Next year I will probably do the same 2.

Brighton Burn up in Sept.

Mayday Hastings run.

Both in the south.

Beaulieu, just past Southampton may be a bit far for you but its a good day out.

Did a local club rideout from Newport to Cheltenham racecourse a few years ago. Good day out, with all the usual stands and promo stuff

Also went to the Carmarthen Bike Show last summer which was pretty good

And we've been to a few local demo days and promo's etc in the last couple of years (M&P's and JT's Swansea)

all seem to have a good atmosphere Thumbs Up

I usually start the year over in Berkshire at the 3B's rally at the beginning of April. Then end of April/early May is Over the Edge Rally on the I.O.W (although I didn't go this year), then mid-May it's either Creatures Small Change rally, near Peterborough OR NABD in Cheshire (tough call because I like them both).

May Bank Holiday is also the Hastings Run. June really depends, sometimes I go to Swansea to the West Coast rally OR I go to the 3B's rally near Bordon. July I have just started going to Wycombe MAG rally. August, I usually head to Bedfordshire. September is the Soggy Moggy near Cambridge or Rejects in Kent. October is the Mabon in Bedfordshire, and the Hex Rated in Oxfordshire. Plus the Brightona in Brighton of course.

In between times I go to MAG in Eastleigh, and Reading. I will ride out to various cafes, and attend biker meets at a few pubs I know in the local area.

I usually only camp April to October because I am a wimp. But as others will tell you, there are lots of rallies happening earlier in the year...like the Frozen Brick, February Freezer...etc. Thumbs Up

No, I work.

But use some of my holidays to take Friday afternoons off. So I get my camping kit ready the night before and head off once I get home at lunch time Friday. Thumbs Up

Reason I go to so many is because the crowd of bikers I hang out with at rallies, make it totally worth it. And contrary to popular belief it's not about getting really drunk...for me it's to camp, to make new acquaintances, to party, to catch up with friends I only ever see at bike related events. Cool

Often.

Number of rallies we do has dropped off in the last couple of years but in the 3 years or so after passing my test we were away somewhere on the bikes every other weekend in the summer.

Kind of got rallied out after that and only done about 2-3 a year for the last 3 years or so.

Just kidding on the work comment Very Happy

Sounds like you make the most of it, good idea not to go just to get drunk. I'd want to remember it and camping sounds cool!

Been doing the Mayday Run since the first in 1979.But I do not go to Hastings anymore.Too many people trying to make a quick bob or two.

The Brighton Rockers Reunion is usually a good rideout with the Speed Runs the day before.

Why not think outside the box, and do other bike meetings.
The Red Marley hill climb is 1 event I want to attend at some point, or how about heading down to the algarve and going to the Faro rally the 3rd weekend in July.
2012 will see me heading on a 3000 mile trip through France over to Corsica for a couple of days, then over to Italy taking in Pisa before heading up to Riva Del Garda, Nauders, Grindelwald, interlarken, before heading back via Besacon, Combles & Ypres.
The plan is to do at least 43 alpine passes listed in the John Hermann book in 21 days

Been doing Hastings for a long time now, always do the pioneer run in March, used to do the crazy dayz one near Lydd, some Ace Cafe ones, IOM TT for a few years, MCN spring spectacular about 4 times, quite a few meets and pub runs.

I go to the 'Family Biker Bash' in Gillingham, North Dorset every year, is a good laugh. It's usually the first weekend in July.

Toying with the idea of the over the edge rally in 2012, depends on what shifts I am working and if I have holiday to spare.

-edit corrected year lol Smile

The Red Marley is a famous weekend hill climb event in Gloucestershire, take a look on YouTube for what I mean.

So you want to walk before you run?
If you take a well planned dramatic 1st step, it will be a highly memorable one, something you can tell your mates about, knowing there's not a chance they'll be able to match it

As for venturing further afield, there are those I've met who literally passed their test 1 week before heading south to faro, and there are those who will ride any type of bikes anywhere, the extreme trifle posse https://www.extremetrifle.com/1/index.php are the sort of madcap people who recreated their version of "easyrider" calling it "CheesyRider" riding chopped Honda C90's to portugal.
Also there are those with more charitable causes for riding C90's such as Scooters in the Sahara www.scootersinthesahara.co.uk/
They ride each spring through Spain, Marrocco down the west coast of africa to a hospital in the Gambia area.

Non of you wimps do the Dragon? A nice icy / wet / windy / muddy weekend in North Wales in February with a tin badge thrown in as well! Men from the boys stuff! Even more cred if you do it on an old ratter or strap a tent to your Desmodeci.
