I did an oil change on my bike, new filter etc just putting it to bed for a couple of months Cool now I bought Motul 5100 10w 40w (ester) 4T technosynthese oil and stuck a litre in proceeded to put the other litre in when I got to around 400ml I realised it was motul 300v factory line double ester 10w 40w 4T 100% synthese racing oil..
just nervous that this will feck things up or is it ok to mix Question I have not started the engine so can I just empty it out and put another new filter on, or is it safe to leave it in. any help would be much appreciated Thumbs Up

Personally don't like mixing oils, but that's a personal thing. Is the first one you've put in fully synth as well?

If so then leave it, if it's a semi synthetic, or mineral oil I'd definately drain and refill.

If both oils are synthetic or semi-synth, personally I'd leave it as it is...
but if one of them is labelled as mineral oil I'd drain and refill

I'm no technical guru, but I've read that mineral and synth doesn't mix well?? Confused

you will be fine. the only real problem is when you try and mix castor oil with petroleum based oils.

It is ok to mix Motul 300v Factory Line 10W40 with other oils, both synthetic and mineral. See specification sheet here:-

Semi synthetic oils are a mix of synthetic and mineral, so mixing in some other either other type won't do any harm. Diluting expensive synthetic oil with mineral would be kinda silly though.

Even if you were thinking about replacing it. If you're laying the bike up, leave what's in, in and change it in the spring.
