Before i melt this thing down to use as a coffee coaster (and possibly a flick through the manual)
What’s going on with this thing?
Battery is fine in the fob, battery seems fine on the bike. The fob has two buttons, one to disarm and one changes the alarm mode i think.

Whenever it feels like it the alarm decides when i press the ‘disarm’ button, it’ll continue to make long beeeeep! beeeep! beeeep! beeeeep! Noises (not the noise of triggered alarm) and no amount of pressing the buttons switch it off. Sometimes it will work, sometimes it won’t.
Has anyone else had this, how do i stop it making me look like a tit everywhere i go?

If I remember correctly the long beeping noises tell you that the alarm has gone off since it was armed and the number of beeps tells you what caused it to go off.
Not sure what would cause it to continuously give long tones.

Take note of how many beeps and what tone they are then look at the manual.

When the alarm has gone off it doesn't beep for long just slightly longer than normal.

Not sure but they're fucking annoying! Filling up with petrol is an arse, it arms itself and you have to put it into valet/service mode or keep the ignition on.

I've got the System 3 on my bike too and I despise it. It seems to be expressly designed with the intention of being as annoying as possible (yes, I can see why it might need to though).

The fact that there isn't a way of putting it into a mode where it doesn't beep every few seconds is incredibly annoying; it's very off-putting trying to do any work on it with it chirping away idiotically at frequent intervals.

This is similar to what mine was doing three days before it packed up completely and left me stranded. I got a tech from Datatool to call and all he could suggest was I remove it as they are discontinued and there are no spares.

Reassuring to know that Pete! I carry the fob on around my neck on a black chord thing that came with it, if I lose my keys and someone thinks they can steal the bike, they can't. At the same time though, If I somehow lose the fob from around my neck or put it down somewhere, I'm fucked!

Had this system on my last bike - absolutely hated it.

Now have the Triumph/Datatool 4? and it's much better, but still a pain. At least you can fill up with fuel and it doesn't go berserk if a fly lands on the seat Neutral

Alarms suck! Laughing

Look in the manual, I managed to get mine to do nothing at all apart from beeping when it arms/disarms. I managed to move the bike around and even lift the tank without it going off Laughing

Pfft. System 3 is easy.

Petrol Station:

- Pull up.
- Ignition off.
- Arm alarm (Left Button)
- Disarm movement (Right Button)
- Fill up as normal.

WTF is hard about that?

I think the manual states this happens when the batteries in the fob are low. you may want to change those pronto if you haven't set a pin on the alarm

3 long beeps means battery in the fob is dying, sometimes mine just does it randomly, i've ripped it out of the last 2 bikes as mine used to cut the ignition at 10,000 rpm due to vibration frequencies in the engine, which when your pinning it in first comes as a bit of a shock and almost throws you over the bars if your not ready for it Laughing

Mike, take the alarm off and burn it.

I had the system 3 on my TL, it kept going off randomly (even when not set!!) and died on me on the M4 the same day it did exactly what yours did.

Shocking alarm, It keft giving me Fi Fault codes after its was "fixed" by a datatool dealer.
I ended up taking the whole thing off.

Exactly what I do on the Speed Four!

Also use this mode when working on the bike, anything that doesn't require the ignition on or playing with electrics can be done in this mode - adjusting chain, pumping tyres, bleeding brakes etc....

Excellent, thanks for this, been looking for the manual (obviously not hard enough!).

All I got with the bike is a hand written instruction on how to put it in service mode in the back of the service book!

Out of interest

HOW DO YOU take the ****** thing off the bike - properly??

Mine came with the bike (BMW) and is a pain in the butt because of the battery drain during periods of bike inactivity. The repetitive beep when the battery is out for various reasons is also grrrrrr !!

Snod

I asked my local Triumph dealer and he showed me how they come from the factory with no alarm, don't really want to put it up here in the public domain though for obvious reasons....

Send me a PM if you want and I'll fill you in

The knowledge is pretty public domain anyhow can share if the mods want.

Service mode makes it beep.

You can disarm it to make it make no noise too, just press the buttons in a differed way, Which I forgot how to do now!

I had one on my Triumph, it was a complete ball ache tbh.

It had a mind of its own, if i didnt use the bike for a while it would drain the battery and i just bloody hated it.

By the time i figured out just how easy it was to remove it i had pretty much sold the bike. (Not because of the alarm, i just wanted a change).

Hateful things in my opinion.
