Hello people i fitted new brake discs today and everything went fine untill it came to putting the front wheel back on. The wheel went on but its out of line and the caliper is rubbing on the disc. I need someone to help me get my wheel on straight i tried about 5 times but the wheel was wobbleing side to side so i think im not putting the spacers in right, the wheel bearings should be fine as i had new head stock bearings fitted by steve jordan a month ago and nothing was said. If someone could pop round and help me tomorrow or just lend me a stand which goes in the steering stem that would be brilliant.
Thanks

Have you got a service manual for your bike so you can check?

Did you check that the new discs are exactly the same as the old?
If they're not then you're going to have alignment problems.

Hi, would like to help, but I'm not in Portsmouth until next week.

Did you put the disks on the correct way round, cause even if you are putting the wheel on correctly, if the disks are wrong way round, they will rub.

You might also post a couple of pictures up here and someone might be able to spot the error of your ways.

Smile

Neil

You haven't accidentally left an additional spacer or bearing out?

Just trying to think of potential problems to help out.

Sounds a hell of a lot like you lost a spacer, are you sure everything you took off went back on? Obviously this is hindsight talking, but I find the best thing to do is to reassemble the spindle on the bench as soon as it's out, in the right order of things.

In what way is it wobbly? Like, as in loose, or what? Better descriptions may help.

Not 100% sure it would affect it that much, but is the wheel definitely the right way round? Could be a fairly simple error?

Most wheels tyres and discs are directional, worth a double check?

Very easy to get too focused, sit down have a fag/beer/cuppa and go back to it with a clear head. Wink
