Traffic moving slowly and someone pulls out of the line of traffic to use a filter lane.
Jamey take note, this is how easy it happens.

Yes, a classic example of why I wear a camera - to capture evidence when somebody else does something stupid Wink

Completely avoidable if the rider was on the ball. Filtering past a right turn is asking for it, and the traffic wasn't exactly "at a crawl". 50/50 I would say, maybe even 25/75 car driver's favour.

Yes the driver didn't look in his mirrors, but the bike could also have swerved into the oncoming lane to avoid as there's no traffic, or even taken up a more defensive position in that oncoming lane.

Personally I wouldn't be filtering at that speed past a right turn box.

dear oh dear, he was overtaking past junctions and moving alot faster than the rest of the traffic. could you not see that?
You have a lot to learn my friend and you better learn quickly or you will be squished by a 2ton car if your not careful.
Think about it before you come back on here with your condescending attitude trying to educate the wealth of experienced riders on here.

Complete lack of anticipation of something very likely = shite riding.

Bit of a 50/50 there.

I'm surprised he fell off so easily though - t'was merely a glancing blow.

I'm another one in the "car drivers corner" on this one.

Way too close to the traffic for me, don't really see a problem with the speed though. A louder set of exhausts wouldn't go a miss either if that's the speed he filters at.

The car drivers' not used his mirrors, but I'm at the point now where I assume no one does....

Absolutely nothing wrong with filtering like that...If yer a nob.

Rider slows before traffic island then tries the zipping past technique.

They lived. Thumbs Up
Bet they pootle now.

If I was on the jury I'd find in the biker's favour there.

There was no need to filter, the traffic was still moving at a decent pace, the bike rider accelerated hard and was overtaking, to fast, filtering is passing cars at only a couple of miles quicker to make steady progress.

Jamie the bike rider was at fault 100% poor observation, to much of a hurry, and to close to passing cars.

Yes it must seem like perfect riding to you, overtaking across chevrons in a built-up area at well above the speed limit.

So he got the insurance payout and the other side accepted full liability despite plenty of people on here (and the other forum) saying that he was at fault.

How very, very interesting <strokes chin>

more likely the driver of the car admitted full liability rather than contest it. which he should have.

On BCF we tend to state what riding was, not who's tecknically at fault.

Better avoiding numerous offs than going through hassle of being ' hard done ' by cagers.

Yes, we saw the evidence of someone doing something stupid in your other thread. I suspect you catch quite a lot of such footage when you're out and about.

Too fast for filtering there pal, I wouldn't submit that video to the insurance company If I were you.

BUT, the car driver didn't look to indicate or look, glad you were'nt hurt, nor anyone else.

Good luck!

Where the hell was the blue car even going? I couldn't see a turning which would explain him trying to nip ahead of queuing traffic? :S

I would have taken that a fair amount wider than that, in that circumstance.

Never mind, you are okay which is the main thing, and learnt from your mistakes.

I've been in a filtering accident, it really is not nice, its not the crash (although was in a lot of pain, barley walk for a month), its the insurance fight afterwards! Sad
