First bike was a CBR125, next bike was a GSXR 600. The GSXR was much easier to ride i felt, you just need to keep your right hand in check and not get carried away or you'll end up dead.

I went from a 9hp KH125 to a 100ish hp Daytona 600 and I'm still alive, had never crashed it.

Be a cock, just when its a bit drier Laughing

I ride the 750 and its not a handful, I reckon anyone could go straight to a litre bike and as long as they weren't dicks, and would be fine!

i went from a dtr 125e, then a yzf 450 off road, to a gsxr 1000 on road, don't be stupid trying to show off and you should be okay, I've not put my self into any bad or silly situations yet, only thing that catches me out is how they get up to speed.

Must say when I went from the Daytona to a GSXR1000 for a bit I was cruising home from the place where I picked it up I looked down and saw 150mph... Was like, holy crap Laughing Didn't feel much faster than about 80 Neutral

gixxers are lovely bikes and a great ride.

I would say just go careful, power difference can catch you out if you're not careful

Disagree, it's taken me 5 years of progression including trackdays and racing to be able to have a big fast bike on the road.

Highly possible I'm a complete bell end though, with little willpower.

If you are on about an SRAD 600, dont bother, just go for the 750 instead, more mid range and easier to ride than the 600. Plus the fact that arguably you wont ever need another bike, i've scratched, pootled, toured two up with luggage and smashed one to pieces after 2 years on trackdays. I would happlily take anyone on, on a WX, well sorted SRAD, they handle and go enough to embarras bigger, newer bikes and like i said you may never want another bike. I would have one again (in fact i nearly brought my brother's one) but i am undergoing a long term love affair with my '98 blade, we have been together now for 5 years, and have decided to give it a new front end from a CBR1000 RR4/5, if it will fit. BUY A 750 SRAD, YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED. Its £1400 well spent.

I flew in a 747 before flying a Cessna and I'm still alive Thumbs Up

Seriously though power of the bike is irrelevant provided you have two brain cells to bang together, had a sneak ride of Bandit 1200 before going off and buying my 600 felt no different riding either of the two in terms of danger to myself only reason got the 6 was economic.

Going from a 125 to a 600... don't do it, you will actually die!

Seriously though, it's nothing, only goes as fast as you snap the throttle back and won't take you long to get used to.

Unfortunately you cant get a K6 for cheap money, you can however, get a giant killing SRAD 750 in cracking condition and low mileage. I defy anyone to get on one at a track and say they are not worth the money! Go on, anyone want to argue? £1400 for a track day weapon? Which you can then go to the south of france with the missus camping for a couple of weeks? Well?
The only other bike which gives almost as much is the Thunderarse, better for touring but not as good for sratching.

Like everyone else has said, easy on the right wrist until you get used to it and you should be okay. They don't start pulling fast until you go ver 7000rpm so change up before then for a while before you start even thinking about opening up the taps Thumbs Up

Couldn't disagree more... if I was doing 150mph on my bike, I would know about it as it definitely doesn't feel anything like 80mph!

Should rephrase it.

More like... the ride itself didn't feel like 150, smooth and too easy to get to.

Doesn't make a blind fcuk of difference.

Could be a thou'.

It's down to you not to ride like an arse.

Plenty of people have made bigger jumps before. You'll be fine.

At 18 I moved from a CBR125 to Zypher 750 for two weeks then on a GSXR600 for almost a year. Have been riding a Hornet since May.

I'm 'Only' 19. Age doesn't matter. It's your riding ability and most of all, self disapline. Don't be a tool, respect the bike and you won't die. Well, not through your own actions anyway.
