Still looking around for a winter hack and/or something to have a bit of cheap fun with, while Big Z is being fettled, and a CB350S has come to my attention.

Looks to me like a Super Dream in drag, but is it really that simple, or are there special things I should be worried about, like inherent and incurable faults, or particular parts availability problems?

As always, any input would be appreciated Thumbs Up

I,ve had a couple, mostly discs and calipers are the main problem, as in getting some when they go wrong, they are basically superdream engines as I rebuilt my first one that I bought seized from a bankrupt courier company using a haynes manual for the cb250n, chassis is really well built and sturdy, and pretty much like a droopy dream you can thrash the living hell out of it and it will go on for years, although not as quick as you'd like, and exhausts rot as they're only mild steel but motad do the obligatory 2 into 1 for it

Thanks for that Andy.

I thought it must have it's base in the SD, but I never understood why they didn't make it a 400, they could've only stopped making that lump a couple of years before.

It seems that between Wemoto and David Silver, everything you could possibly want to rebuild the brakes is available (although the discs are farking dear) and the bike I'm looking at already has a Motad.

Not too fussed about the performance, I'm not exactly a speed demon and it's only going to get thrashed to work everyday, probably won't do 100 miles a week.

Ive just sold mine last week, Got £400 for it which is pretty reasonable tbh. Great bike, as andy said, they're not particularly quick but are reliable and comfy as foooook in comparison to my sv!

BTW, its a well known fact that the white ones are faster/better in every single way Wink

Hi

Basically a Wet Dream / Superslug engine in a tarty chassis.

Suspect done for insurance reasons for the UK market. Until the early 1990s Norwich Union had the vast majority of the UK insurance market and they (and pretty much every other bike insurer at the time) based premiums on engine capacity rather than the particular bike with 350cc being one of the cut off point. Making it a 400 would have dramatically increased the insurance costs which probably not making it any more desirable to those wanting a commuter bike.

Think in Brazil the 450 version of that engine was shoved into a more sporty chassis with CBR600 style fairings at an even later date.

All the best

Keith
