 |
|
Ok so I`m finally getting round to doing the float heights on my XS 400, Yipee! at fecking last
According to the Haynes manual for that bike, the float height is 32.0 + 1mm give or take?
So if i`m still running a bit rich ie starts easy without choke, wont tick over, revs fine , you can smell it in the exhaust smoke.
What next? I have the right jets in and the needles are in the right notch.
I dont/did`nt have any air-leaks and am using a standard air-box.
also the floats are in good order, as is the float needle assembly.
I seek your wisdom BCF?
thank you ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

Thank you for that much info to digest.
Plugs, timing, sparks, battery = all good.
Small spring and o-ring in place = yes.
Airbox = airtight.
Airfilter = clean.
I will read your thread again when I have the bike in bits again ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

Is the air filter clean?
Is the air screw set to the manuals specification?Usually about 1.5 turns out but this is machine specific.Is the very small spring,washer and 'O' ring in place on each air screw? |
I'd go with the mixture screw. ____________________ XX XXXx

I just saw this too.
Why would your float heights have changed since the bike was last running properly.
If you can come up with a convincing answer, then fiddle with them. Otherwise leave them alone. As a general rule, floats heights don't/can't change themselves (with the exception of a punctured float). ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink.
