Hi,

My front fork seals on my thundercat are leaking and are in need of a change. I have had a look for some seals and they are cheap enough but i am being advised to take it to someone who does it everyday (Mecanhic).

Just wondering how much they normal charge for this?

Any information would be great.

That I can't help you with, probably in the region of £50-£100 including the labour of removing most of the front end.
I'd do it myself if it was me, i know what to do but i'm not 100% on explaining it or the specifics,
Might be worth a crack having a go yourself, me and a mate are gonna do his next week hopefully; could save you a fair bit of money.

Have a look around, i'm sure there's some guides, youtube have some DIY vids which could help Smile
sorry I can't be more helpful

I don't know how much it costs for your bike but the last time I had fork seals done it was £60. Some bikes eat fork seals so it's a job worth learning how to do at home.

£60 works for me. Im going to ring around tomorrow now i know i could be as cheap as that.

If you're any good with spanners get a Haynes manual and have a go, changing fork seals is easy enough. You can always get advice on here.

Hi

Depends on the bike. Some are gits (last one I did on the ZZR600 was a pig to do, as the old seal wouldn't shift when trying to get the forks apart), others easy (YSR50 was a doddle).

Other option is to remove the fork yourself and then take it in. Saves them the labour of removing it from the bike and having the bike cluttering up the workshop.

All the best

Keith
