its a honda clr 125cc single cylinder 4 stroke, went down to local engineering workshop, they said i will have to supply my own piston and give it to them so they can work out the dimensions of the re bore as little damage has been done can anyone recomend a size piston wouldnt mind going bigger cc maybe 150-170 depending on what i can find if anybody could point me in the right direction would greatly appreciate it

bore and stroke is 56.5 x 49.5 mm (2.22 x 1.95)

if anyone can help with me finding a cylinder kit would be very grateful

There is no upgrade to these... you can only go 1mm oversize and will need the cylinder to be bored out to suit.

https://www.startright.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=458_527_99_16&products_id=74108

While you are there, get rid of the useless excuse for an exhaust. If you are good at welding, you can remove the rear half of the exhaust (after downpipe, just before HUGE silencer) and fit a nice pipe and end can. Will help it breathe a bit easier... check the jetting of your bike though.. as I'd also upgrade the air filter in there. Thumbs Up

All of the above was going to be done to my last CLR but I had to sell it in the end, was going to budget about £150 to sort it all out Thumbs Up

The engine is from an XL125, engine is more ancient than the dinosaurs.

Aside from fitting a CG engine and getting a chinese 150cc kit there isn't anything to do to the bike.

It might cost you a bit more but try to find a company that specializes in re-bores. If it's done wrong you could end up with a right-off for an engine and at the very least an expensive (probably beyond the value of the bike) re-build.

Is the original piston worn out?

What is the result of a compression test?

If the little end has gone it may well need a new con-rod as well.Which means having the crankshaft out to push out the big-end bearing. If the piston is okay it may only need new rings after a glaze-bust job.

Or has the engine been run without sufficient oil in it causing the engine damage?

If its a CG 125 piston then you should be able to bore the standard barrel out to atleast 2.5mil oversize which would give you a boost in torque. Its not practicle but if preformance boost is your only aim then it should be possible.

Althogh 2.5mil is the maximum overbore and if it ever got that damaged that honing wouldnt clean it up then youd need either a resleve or new barrel.

when i bought the bike i checked the oil and it was full but very fresh, 3 weeks later i heard the knocking i suspected rings or little end checked oil it was empty ? found that the valve cover gasket gone

if i can go 2.5 over then i will luckily for me there is a motor engineering shop withing 2 mins walk convenient i know but he said i have to supply my own piston, im going to order the piston for it and gasket set ready for when i strip it down i cant locate a bearing size for little end so i will have to wait for that bit for when i strip it take measurements and order it,

could anyone tell me were i can find a 2.5 over size piston for a cg / xr i have had a look but no joy only find a 1mm if i can find it i will have it rebored to size whilst its apart

Can only find 1.5mm

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-HONDA-CG125-CG-125-PISTON-KIT-RINGS-78-00-1-50mm-/230443912671?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item35a7870ddf#ht_1457wt_754

Although photo looks far different to the CLR piston I had, had valve recesses on the piston crown.

Not likely able to match one up for you.

Call David Silver Spares tomorrow, ask about an oversize one for a CLR125 specifically.
