 |
|
Well I'm in work and my lil 100cc 2-stroke won't start.
It started initially but then navigating a security barrier i let the revs drop and it cut out and hasn't started since.
I've tried the kick start many times and also bump starting it but it doesn't sppear to be firing.
I've tried swapping the spart plug (which was quite oily) but still nothing. It's sparking so I'm really not sure what the problem is.
Any suggestions?
And no - it's not out of fuel

Not that I pretend to be shit hot with bike mechanics , but with the RS125 I'm thinking of getting you have to let them warm up a wee bit before going off. I'm guessing you probably already know that though. Have you checked obvious stuff like the battery etc. That's what I normally do with me car when there's a problem and its normally something really simple and obvious...maybe |

The battery's fine as the neutral light is fine and it's sparking.
The fuel is on and it was running fine when it was parked - and when it started initially.
When I got it there were a couple of spare plugs. I've tried these and it's the same with each. ____________________ Shaft drives rule. |

This'll be way too late, but you probably flooded it. Fuel off, choke off, ignition on, throttle wide open. Now kick over until it fires, quickly switch fuel on. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. Sounds like a classic flooding to me, Leave it for 5 minutes and what works for me is to pull the throttle back ever so slighty just to let a trickle of fuel into the ignition area and just push in the ignition and hold for a little while, should fire up shortly after. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. Thanks for the replies everyone. Finally managed to get it started by pushing it around the small car park outside my work many many times with a mate to help.
Still unsure what caused the problem, though I assume it was flooded. Each time I changed the plugs they seemed very oily.
Very annoying bike to bump start - you can't push it along and then release clutch because it's light and will just skid.
I'll give it a thorough take apart and put back together soon.
cheers

If it is something like an H100 or an RXS or that kind of thing, you should bump start it in second. That way you can just sit on the saddle with the clutch out and paddle it about with the engine turning over.
You can start my H100 by sticking it in second on the stand and pulling the back wheel round by hand (NB fingers, spokes etc!). ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
