PM Danny, give him £30 and he'll find you an excellent quote.

I like www.bennetts.co.uk not to be confused with www.bennets.co.uk (I made that mistake once, and once only)

I'm 16 and I have my insurance with bennetts. They are probably one of the chapest and best insurance companies around.

Never found Bennetts to be that good for young people, CIA Insurance are normally very good for young people. Never heard of Bennetts being good for young people before. You should still ring all the companies in the back of Bike Trader and play them off against each other, if Bennetts are good for young people then they'll be willing to go the lowest and the quote you first get quoted isn't the best price they can do, so haggle with them.

Other way around, you don't pay him unless he finds you a good quote.

And they'll charge you whatever the price difference would be for the number of months of your policy you have left and then add on some as an admin fee.

No way!

Bennetts have always had one of the highest quotes from me as a young rider.

Check out 'Bike Team'.

Tried Carol Nash, Bennets and Footman James, all gave quotes around the £180 mark; called Direct Choice (08701 221102) and got a quote for £105.

Simply go through them all and see what comes out. There is no one good company for price across the board. Its a random number generator. Laughing

I don't want to sound like a broken record, but i've found www.motorcycledirect.co.uk excellent for younger bikers, I've managed to insure a R6 fully comp for £1254 with 0 no claims and with a full license for 3 months, I even managed to get insured on a hayabusa for £1800 (again fully comp).

The insurance for my Honda MBX 50 1984 cost me £240 tpft and I'm 16. It was £210 without the legal cover. I think thats pretty cheap to me!

The best place in my opinion for young sports bike riders would be express insurance : 0800 316 6676. I manage to get good quotes off them in the past when sorting insurance for my friend's NSR and CBR, but they don't do trail bike cover Crying or Very sad . But do try Danny if you can't get any cheaper quotes.

NIG specialises with 50cc sports but i don't really know their number.

A tip for you: since you're young, insure on a TPO basis as it is much much cheaper. Wait until your 2nd or 3rd year to get NCB and the TPFT cover.

Hope this has been of help.

Bloody hell, that is good Shocked You must have some no claims bonus there though eh? Or been riding a long time?

Insured my TZR this morning, cost me £203 TPFT, no NCB, one month on CBT, 3 points, 30 year old. It was Rampdale by the way.

I've been riding for 12 years or so off and on, but this is my first bike for a while. I think its so cheap because they took my NCB from my car insurance into account (3 years) and I'm 29 with a clean licence (only just mind.... Wink )

you did well dafrostyone.

I got £233 on my '94 reg MZ ETZ 125, which has much lower stealable factor than your cbr.

and that was the best quote by about £50, and was TPO.

But then mine has no kind of imobiliser/alarm, not sure why yours was so cheap though, unless you keep it in a giant safe, and have promised to do under 3.5miles per year.

The bike being newer pushes the quote up, even if you're getting TPO. Yokogeri, get a copy of Bike Trader and call literally every single insurance company in the back, once you've got the cheapest few quotes call back between them haggling the price down, repeat until none will go any lower. Thumbs Up

TPO is often more expensive than TPFT
Once you knwo how insurance quotes work (their fairly simple) you can use them to your advantage to make money like danny does, or save money like i did.

£215.55 TPFT inc breakdown on an RGV250 aged 20 licence held 0 years NCB 0 years Laughing
