Well, it happened. Today I went and bought myself a bike No pictures sadly as it's got a bit dark, but I'm now the proud owner of a black 1989 F plate TZR 12 months T&T, new tyres, new chain, sprocket and shock.
I can't recall being this excited in years. Runs well, but the only thing though, it seems to smoke an awful lot. Seller assured me (I know, but I'm a n00b) that it was normal for a two stroke to do that. But I couldn't help (while I watched him ride it to Sheffield for me) but be reminded of the old game Spyhunter and fog screens Do they really smoke like that or am I looking at needing work on the bike?
Either way I'm totally stoked I can't wait to get out on it Wahooo ____________________ 'Allo! My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!

Have fun on it, oh and 2 strokes like a caning now and then.
Also they do smoke alot when cold but they shouldn't smoke at all when warm unless there under heavy acceleration or there burning too much oil .
Keep the rubber side down.

Very white smoke could possibly mean that coolant liquid is finding its way into the cylinder, through a broken gasket or the such. I'd get it seen to by a mechanic asap if its that much/bad.
On the positive note, nice one on the buy, lovely machines they are. ____________________ Aprilia RSV Mille R Edwards Replica - Aprilia RS250 - Suzuki GSXR600 Supersport Race Bike |

I wouldn't worry about the smoke, mine used to do it alot when I first got it, and sometimes still does now. Just stick some good quality oil in it, and give it a 2 hour thrashing. Clean out the cobwebs.
Try finding a straight road, (preferably not busy ) and thrashing it down the road, quickly pull in the clutch, switch off the ignition, and bring it to a stop. Whip out the plug and have a look, should tell you how the bike is running.
Use this chart to check how yours looks ____________________ RooRoo: just like the time i stuck my finger up my arse with no lube at all and she didnt talk to me for hours |

Just thought I'd throw up a picture of my new baby
https://www.thebdaman.f2s.com/Bike%20Stuff/TZRforweb.gif
Had a bit of a scare when I couldn't get it started this morning It took me hours (and a fortunate google that turned up a thread on this forum ) to find the bloody choke Soon as I had bam! First kick every time
It could do with a bit of tidying, but I'm in love ____________________ 'Allo! My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!

Well, it's all sorted now. Got myself insured (£203 TPFT, not bad), and been down the shops for a bottle of Castrol TTS. So I'm all ready for my first ride out on my own bike (and actually also my first unsupervised ride ).
Extremely excited, but also really pretty nervous, which makes me smile as I thought I was too old to be a chickenshit anymore I think I'd feel better if I didn't live in the middle of a city on a permanently busy main road, meaning I have to pull out into traffic without knowing how the bikes going to go Maybe I should push it round the corner to some quieter roads first
Enough typing. Time to go prep it and get her warmed up
edit; Oh yeah, if you see someone on that bike, all in black except for blue jeans doing about 20 on NSL roads, it's me ____________________ 'Allo! My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!

Well that was a lot of fun Took me a while to get it started though, but I think that was my fault as I didn't notice I'd got the fuel tap on full, when the tank was nearly empty
The ride itself went well, the bike runs very nicely indeed, but it seems to like the revs in the 6 to 7 thousand plus mark, if I want to change gear with any power (Although at that level, it has a great deal ). Is this normal? It worries me as I wouldn't push my lady's car to that level and hell does the bike make a racket at 7 thousand plus revs I think it was the noise that concerned me more than anything
Didn't manage to get too far out sadly as it was so bloody windy out on the tops Scared the hell out of me when leaning round corners (didn't really get to do that on my CBT) at speed to feel the wind trying to push me over. Felt real nice leaning though Most I got out of it was 60mph today (too scared, too windy) and that was only when I worked out the high revs thing. Oh yeah, I had to stop anyway because of the pains in my clutch wrist tendons
Very smoky at start, but settles down nicely after a good bit of ragging. It was worrying me, but it seems OK now
All in all, big ____________________ 'Allo! My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!

most 2 strokes make blue smoke yes but dont worry because my mates mito has got tons of white smoke even when warm and it had lasted 8 months and onbly just started rattling(a new record for a 1991 mito).
