Anticipated time too hoon - warm tyres

Bike naked mito 125 25 bhp with 17 stone on her back.

Tyres 160/60 and 120/70 z mich 2ct pures.

The tyres have now done their 100 miles run in period, how long after setting out can hoon considering the above.

I know in the summer it would be 2 mins down the road, but with temp around freezing ,, ??

Also, is it drop or higher psi in winter months ?

I would suggest that "hoon" + "temp around freezing" = MAJOR problems

with 17st on the back i cant see the mito being able to heat the tyres up to optimum temperature EVER . let alone with any one lighter on ....

That's an odd choice of tyre for a small bike in winter. A more durable and harder compound tyre designed to get up to temperature with less abuse would perform better on a low power light bike than a sticky sports tyre that can't get into it's optimum operating range.


Soft sports tyres on a dinky 125 road bike will not warm up well.

Soft sports tyres on a dinky 125 road bike in winter will not warm up at all.


Also, the 100 miles break in means nothing, it is all about progressively adding lean until the whole tyre is scrubbed in. Doing 100 miles bolt upright then trying to knee down on the several inches of non scrubbed in tyre edge will end in disaster.

Why have you put an oversized tyre on it? standard is 110 and 150.

I find it difficult getting the tyres on my TL to a decent temperature in this weather let alone on a 124 with 110bhp less!!

You should have bought bridgestone BT090. Probably much better than what you've got in all aspects, as well as not being THE WRONG FUCKING SIZE.

Eat less
Normal pressures because for road riding, pressures mean next to nothing, especially on a 125.
Tyres wont warm up when it's very cold.

Fucking hell Covdude, why do you have to regress into being a prick all the time????

These tyres are not suitable fo your bike. It will not work them hard enough for heat or pressure to become a factor.

You will probably crash trying warm them up.

Also your bike will handle worse than stock due to the stupid sizes you have fitted which will mean the tyre's profile is "pinched".

I'll go back to standard when i find some mito SP wheels, which are smaller, and therefore 150s will be fine.

These tyres have soft compound of 40% and are 0.9 kg lighter, so that 40% should help.

You have no idea of the Mitos ' immense ' POWAHHH .. !!!

My piston was forged in mount doom, and the firing temperature of my platinum sparkplug is hotter than the center of a Macdonalds cherry pie.

My bike powahhh to weight ratio, can only be compared to a meandering ant stumbling upon a WET, not dry sugar lump.

When you consider these points, it's no surprise my scotoiler is pointed at the tyre, and is actually filled with liquid nitrogen, to put out them pesky flames on the toasted rear tyre.

It's why ZR Pures were a must, the 140 quid maxis sports i was going to get would of instantaneously combusted, should they of gone up against said pie, sparkplug and inferno.

Im not a big fan of those power pures. Pilot power 2ct's would of been better and they heat up quicker.

Dont these come with qualifiers as standard?

Cant say ive ever had a problem with getting heat into pretty much any tyre on any bike in the dry. They all get hot. In the winter/freezing temps, non of them get upto a healthy temp.

Supercorsa's get more heat into them in the cold than any touring tyre....
