Change up at the same point on the ZX6 and you'll probably have a similar engine performance experience to the SV - it's just that this is the point the 600 is really starting to come on to song, while the SV has run out of puff.
ZX9 has got more low and midrange, but moderate your right hand and you should be fine.
Of course, both have better brakes (but not massively so when compared to SV ones in good nick) and suspension.
Providing you approach it sensible, either should be fine . |

I think we've all missed a very important point.
The ZX9R looks a lot better than the SV650. OMnomnom!

Never argue with an idiot. They'll only bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience. |

I went from a SV650 to a Z1000 (I believe it's a reworked ZX9 lump) and absolutely loved the Z.
As G says, it has the same flexible low down grunt but an amazing screaming top end - in comparison it just keeps pulling and pulling. The transition is only as challenging as you make it. If you want to pootle, it was happy to bimble along but I couldn't resist the temptation to understand how it would behave if I felt the need to open it up
I'd happily have another one when the kids get a bit older, and would certainly look at a ZX9 ____________________ '82 C50, '81 CB100, '84 GS125, '95 NTV650, '00 Bandit 600, '06 SV650, '56 Z1000, '89 NTV600
