Yep, different chassis.
But ride a Hornet for yourself and see how YOU like it! Forget what your mate thinks!
Also, the engine is the same as the CBR600Fs, but its been de-tuned to the tune of 15-20bhp. For a quick and easy mod for more power, might be worth dropping a decent CBR600F engine in there without anyone knowing I know a guy who has got one like that for trackdays and he beats LOTS of people on wayyyy more modern and wayyyy more powerful bikes in the advanced group on a trackday! ____________________ Past Bikes: '97 CG125, '91 GPZ500S, '01 FZS600, '07 S/Triple, '99 ZX9R, '82 GP125, '83 GP100, '03 SV1000S, '98 ZX6R

dont talk shit . the cbr has more power because it has biger carbs and a 'ram air' system and difefrent cams a cbr lump in a hornet wont be much more bhp than just putting cams in a hornet as the cbr carbs wont fit ____________________ Current >Cb600fx hornet, ns125rk90 21.7bhp@wheel<

Well I'm sorry mate but he's fitted it all to his hornet and ive seen the results. Call it bullshit - call it what you like, i know what hes done to his hornet and I've seen it perform!
And i know that...hence why I said he's put a whole lump from a same-year cbr600f in it - he hasn't just changed a couple of bits on his hornet lump!
On another note, i am not from the 'nest'. Hornets are still great bikes and i'd be tempted to buy one as standard. The only thing that gets me is that i prefer the Fazer 600 of the same year ____________________ Past Bikes: '97 CG125, '91 GPZ500S, '01 FZS600, '07 S/Triple, '99 ZX9R, '82 GP125, '83 GP100, '03 SV1000S, '98 ZX6R

The changes made to "detune" the motor are relatively small. Small carbs, PAIR system, different cams, different exhaust, and a lower compression ratio that's about it.
BSD of Peterboro built a Hornet with 100 odd bhp still with the Hornet engine.
There's certainly no need to drop a completely new engine in. Change the head over for a CBR600F unit, including cams and carbs and you're most of the way there. The difference between the two engines is also only around 10bhp in any case.
Also "destroying" riders on trackdays isn't particularly impressive, and certainly isn't down to the super awesome engine he has. I could run middle fast group pace on a Hornet 6 with a stock motor and I'm slow.
I'm 6ft and have had a few Hornets with no issues. |
cbr carbs will go on but a PIA to setupo bette roff putting latter hornet carbs on as there slightly larger . and as for the compleete head nah just need cbr600 f4 cams
stsve 370 has a 101bhp@ rear wheel hornet but thats got cams, big bore 636 , arka pipes and fcr carbs! ____________________ Current >Cb600fx hornet, ns125rk90 21.7bhp@wheel<
