Hi i got megelli 125m.
I was riding to college and noticed that when i pull the throttle back hard in first 2nd or somethimes higher gears the bike would act like the clutch is engaged partly Question The rpms would go up but no power to the rear wheel. Its never done it befor. I thought it was the chain but the chain has recently been cleaned and adjusted. It will also do it if your riding along the suddenly open the throttle all the way. Help plz

Neutral

Adjust clutch at the engine side, back off the adjustment on the lever to zero (screw all the way in) and sort the clutch on the engine side.

You need to adjust it so there is some free play before the clutch disengages.
Don't have it adjusted to tight.

Adjust the lever free-play and test ride it. If it's still slipping, come back and I'll tell you how to adjust the actual clutch.

Too many people think that the clutch adjustment is on the lever, but it's not - that's just the cable adjustment. Either might be the fault, but one is very often disregarded.

I adjusted it on the lever and it still does it. I have about 5/6mm of play not 2/3mm. Do i need to try and adjust it now by the engine. Or have i got to get a new clutch.

Your clutch will be slipping due to either a knackered clutch or poorly adjusted one.

It will still be there, they don't run off if you let them out.

what i mean is that the clutch needs replacing.
Its a megelli 125m done 9000 miles
its like £18 for clutch plates
£14 for friction plates
gonna need springs extra.
Or i can buy a new clutch the whole thing for £75

can be from the use of the wrong oil, ie car oil which has additivites that causes clutch slip

Loosening off the cable isn't the same as adjusting the clutch.

Look where the cable goes into the engine. Somewhere near there will be a round cap or cover or rubber bung. Remove it and see underneath - you'll probably find a screw and locknut adjuster. Loosen the locknut and then turn the screw anticlockwise half a turn or so, then re-tighten the locknut. See if that stops it slipping.

The proper way to adjust it is actually to screw out the screw until you feel no weight on it, then screw it in until you fell it touch, then back it off half a turn or so.

only use motorcycle 10w 40 oil.
I took the crankcase off to put in new clutch springs, clutch pads and friction disk but i need a specific tool to undo a round bolt with groves in. I don't and am going to take i to my local mechanic to do the job due to i can't be asked to do the job myself and it's too cold.

Did you not look at the pushrod clearance adjuster as I described above, or does it not have one?

So by reading this thread, the OP has the technical ability to change the clutch, but not the ability to adjust it?
