Bar end mirrors

Hi guys,

My current commute is directly through the centre of London, I've been folding my mirrors in lots to fit through gaps, and somehow one came loose and is somewhere along the A13 at the moment.

I considered removing the other mirror, I can negotiate traffic well enough with the use of shoulder checks, but fear of plod and my final three points is enough for me to want mirrors. My choice is standard or bar end.

Are bar end mirrors any good? Will they hinder my filtering less than standard mirrors? Will I actually be able to see behind me? Will I look ghey?

I've got a bar end mirror on my right bar. I took the stock ones off some time ago, and haven't suffered any ill effects. If anything, I've actually got a better view of what's behind me now, because the mirror doesn't solely aim itself at the inside of my elbow, which is a bonus.
Not had any problems with filtering, either.
As to whether it makes you the ghey, that's down to you to decide.

It actually sticks up from the bar end. I'll get a photo when I'm down in the garage later on. It's one of those cheapo Chinese ones, which comes in a pair for <£30. I'd imagine that if it's on a set of riser or flat bars, you'll be able to get away with having the mirror on under the bar, but since my bike's got clip-ons, it seemed the most sensible fitting method.

You're doing it wrong, then. I have a totally unobstructed view when my Mrs is on the back. Aim them so you can only just see the outer edge of your hip. Unless you've got a bow-legged pillion (ergo, this won't work for warped), you should be fine.

You can rotate the mirror arm, if you loosen off the grub screw that's securing it.

This seller mate, great item, screws / bolt things not much cop, work fine, but not stainless steel fittings. but actual item is same as oberon 80 quid ones.

I don't believe so. I've run bikeswith no mirrors, and had no problems. You've got to blank off the mounting points for MOT, though (I think).

As much as they are proberly all the same, i've got these and have pictured them.

The size of the mirrors is smaller than pic suggest, and bar the fittings, the item is top notch and delivered in about 10 days or so.

Stick with what you know and order these, in the colour of your choice. Thumbs Up Idea
