 |
|
Hi chaps, I decided the other day to purchase a good little bike to do my test on as my dt125 is too feisty and could cause me problems.
This Derbi mull cafe is a real nice bike it pulls along in 6th gear really nice and will rush me along at over 75 mph.
It is great on fuel and very pleasent to drive.
The bike has one fault, it seems to hate low revs - now power under 3k to speak off but above this it flies along.
I paid £1200 for the bike which has done 3k miles and came with a full service history.
The front brake has to be the most effective I have ever used and would if asked do a "stoppy"
Only wear to be seen it the cylinder barrel is a little rusty outside and needs a little heat paint .
2008 year, full mot and tax, new pads all round and chain and sprocket set- one lady owner from new.

LOL can't keep the front down on a 125 ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.
Skudd:- Perhaps she just thinks you are a window licker and is being nice just in case she becomes another Jill Dando.
WANTED:- Fujinon (Fuji) M42 (Screw on) lenses, let me know if you have anything. |

I have no trouble keeping the front down on a 750 at full chat in 1st
Either way that Derbi will do 70 max, 65 probably genuine speed.
DT would have walked you through the Mod 1, 2nd gear. |

It is that bad as soon as it goes over 5k it just bloody tries to come up, and having to gun the bike in second on that flipping swerve avoid thing could cause problems.
Not being noobie as having ridden 250's on a l plate many moons ago I can tell you its a real pig to hold down in the lower gears.
I could up the front sprocket to counter this but I am enjoying the doctile handling of the derbi and think this is the best choice for the test.
I would hate to fail because the front came up and the instructor thinks WTF. |

Unless im much mistaken the DT's were restricted on a reed switch behind the speedo that messed up the ignition curve, and the power valve was jammed shut. Wouldn't it have been cheaper just to re-restrict it? or just simply using a higher gear than it perhaps should have been in seemed to keep the front end on pit bikes down alright. Or dare i say it being a little less heavy handed with the throttle, Lol.
Idk, £1200 on something specificly JUST to do the test on seems a bit silly if its going to get sold on straight afterwards. If i were to do that i'd be going for the cheapest scruffiest option in the classified as opposed to something posh!
I get the opinion that someones trying to make excuses for buying a new toy |
