I remember watching some fly on the wall show about a casualty department in the Caribbean several years ago. One thread followed an unfortunate chap who had attempted to clear his blocked toilet with sulphuric acid and petrol. Then, for reasons known only to him, he introduced a naked flame to the situation. Being treated for heat AND chemical burns simultaneously is not cool.
However, back on topic. I’m a serial toilet blocker. I produce turds of such girth and volume that I can overwhelm all but the most heroic bog. My current house has an amazing toilet that I haven’t been able to block in nearly six years. Amazing build quality…
…but I digress. My standard remedy is a large vessel (bucket, washing up bowl, etc. Whatever will hold several litres) filled with plain old cold water, poured rapidly from a decent height directly into the bowl. That’ll shift almost anything. I’ll wager that’s all you’ll need. Quick, clean, effective. But! If it’s so blocked that water is draining really slowly please choose a bucket with less volume than the toilet bowl, just in case.
Failing that unbend an good stiff coat hanger and put your best stabbing technique into practice. If you suspect that it may be “lady products” maybe bend a little hook into the end of the wire and see what you can drag out.
After that all you need is a strong stomach and a good nail brush… …for your nails obviously, not for clearing the toilet. ____________________ 2007 CBF1000 & 2016 CBF1000F - Commuter heaven | 1994 CBR600FR - Awaiting defibrillation

Ok, you can get what you require in the likes of B&Q,Focus,£ stretchers etc, or a hardware shop for a couple of quid, if you just have a loo brush, wrap an old cloth around it, push it down the pan ( wrap well so it won't come off to exasperate situation ) to create a seal, push up/down a few times to get sucksion, and hopefully dislodge whats there, if unsucsesfull try the bucket of water trick, watching carefully for overfill....keep going with the rest of above suggestions, if all else fails phone a plumber, maybe you've got a very good friend who might help you !!...good luck in you endevours |

Tie a plastic bag around the end of a mop and use it as a plunger, in and out a few times and it suddenly clears. Awesome
Tried, tested and working when the "suddenly pour a load of water" trick had failed. ____________________ -- Ingah |

It's highly unlikely it's the toilet that is blocked.
Any blockage will be further down the pipe work.
Look for the first cover on the outlet pipe, this won't neccesarily be a large manhole cover, it could be a small cover on a rodding point.
Once you've found that, lift the cover, if the chamber is full, obviously the blockage is downstream, if it's empty you'll need to clear the blockage from upstream.
If the pipes are a relatively straight run, buy or borrow some drainage rods and remove the blockage with them. If you suspect that there are some bends in the pipe get a garden hose and work it into the pipe using full mains pressure once you've got the hose in.
Remember if the blockage is a reasonable distance from the toilet, there will be enough pressure behind the blockage to push the sewerage out of the manhole, so make sure your head isn't to close to the chamber!
I used to work with a CCTV unit, surveying sewers, and I've unblocked more drains than I care to remember.

Boiling hot water, let it sit for a bit. Failing that, a wire coat hanger and a bin bag |
