 |
|
just got in from my mod 2 this morning and I'm very sorry to say that i failed.
next one has already booked, Feb 24th 10.24.
bit gutted, but he said i didnt use my back brake enough, he only saw me once! (fair point really) and when on the dual carriageway he had to ask me to hang back a bit from a lorry
i didnt think i was all that close really, but overtaking had crossed my mind and i guess i mustnt have dropped back again after deciding not to, damn it!!
so my hyo GT250R will have to sit outside again for the next 2 weeks while i wait for the next test date #slaps forehead with hand palm# in the mean time i will be counting the seconds on all my gaps to the car in front and making sure i brake with hand and foot!!
I passed both theory and mod1 2nd time round so this isnt such a surprise lol ____________________ --Current Bike: '98 Hornet CB600F

Reeeeally? Because after you pass it's unlikely you'll use it at all.
Same as mod 1, just put your foot on the brake, it'll look the same without giving a risk of locking the rear.

Hmmm.
It all sounds pretty subjective. Did he give you a major, or was it a surfeit of minors? Sounds like a typical clipboard-fiddler anyway, don't take it to heart. https://www.donstalk.co.uk/messageboard/Smileys/dt_smileys/wanker.gif ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I had 3 faults for the back brake, marked as serious and then a serious fault for the van.
other than that i had a minor for steering and another for turning right at a junction.
i dunno if he was a clipboard fiddler but he did follow me in a car which i thought was a cop out, but if i had passed i probably wouldnt have cared, i just wish the next test date was sooner! lol ____________________ --Current Bike: '98 Hornet CB600F

Sorry to hear you didn't pass. It took me 3 to eventually pass. Don't see it as a problem that you have your bike waiting- more of a visual encouragement to concentrate on passing the next time.
(I had mine sat waiting for me for 8 weeks till I could actually ride it. Cleanest bike known to mankind by the time it got taken out!)
Chin up, take it all on board and I'm sure you'll pass in no time- well done for rebooking straight away!
Best of luck!

Keep at it.
I've heard it mentioned that a rider may be technically ok but some examiners will find ways to fail them if they see a lack of... for want of a better word...confidence.
I can kinda understand that. A colleague failed his test and was told things like. You didn't do the checks when entering a different speed limit, and you didn't get up to speed on the dual carriageway. [old test] He'd done the u-turn, emergency stop ok. I suspect the examiner saw him wobbling abit combined with poor roadcraft and thought 'This bloke isn't quite safe enough to be on the roads today'.
Me, (and I'm blowing my own trumpet very gently) never had a lesson and on my test momentarily locked up the rear and indicated left when he said turn right..oh and the riding through the traffic lights as they were changing.
Passed no trouble. I'd been riding almost every day for years, and it showed on test day. I didn't get flustered.
You want it..You'll get it. ____________________ Diabolical homemade music Bandcamp and Soundcloud

Right. Examiner was in a car. And as someone said, they can fail you on 'lack of confidence'
Not using back brake enough? I wonder how he was able to see that to be honest.
Before the test, my examiner told me bluntly
'I want to struggle to keep up with you.'
This didn't mean break the speed limit, but I did accelerate swiftly, change lanes and make good time. Because I did that, I lost him for half of the test. Who knows, during those times maybe he didn't see me not use my back brake enough
Leave your foot hovering over the brake pedal, he won't be able to tell the difference.. ____________________ Mod2 Passed 30/03/2011!

Exactly this.
On my Module 2, I spent 90% of the test over 5 cars in front of the examiner on his bike so in reality he couldn't see me for almost all of the test. This led to us being in 30mph zones for almost all the test apart from one dual carriageway stint where he remained around six cars behind me.
The key to an easy pass? Get so far ahead the examiner can't see you. !

The OP said he was driving too close to a lorry/van/whatever.
If he did this for long enough for the examiner to prompt him to stop tailgating the vehicle in front then he did it for too long.
Tailgating is incredibly dangerous and even more so on motorcycles and should be a fail on test if someone has to be prompted to NOT do it.
Gutted that you failed, but you'll pass next time now. ! |
Have to agree, if you need prompting to drop back from a vehicle, then you're definitely too close and have been for too long.
As for the back brake stuff, that might be debatable, but sorry to say it sounds like you deserved to fail on this test due to the above.
Good luck for the next test though, just remember to ride safe, ride sensible and you should be fine |

I believe, although could be wrong, that examiners if they see one error serious enough to fail, like to add a second serious as it takes the result beyond contention.
In any case keep at it, when you eventually pass it feels good enough to make up for all the failures . ____________________ - CBT: 02/01/11 Theory: 26/04/11 Mod 1: 19/05/11 Mod 2: 19/08/11

did my mod 2 this morning and despite rain and wind I'm very happy to report that i passed!
I had a wopping 7 minors this time but i couldnt care less to be honest. nothing major (obviously)!
i know i have a lot tolearn yet but i can start the learning process proper now!
i took the front L off my YBR125 as a symbolic gesture but this afternoon i have been riding the lovely roads of the isle of Anglesey on the Hyo gt250r i have been looking at longingly for the last 3 weeks lol
thanks for all the support and good advice i have had on here, shows you can pass without lessons, even if it is second time round on all tests! lol ____________________ --Current Bike: '98 Hornet CB600F
