I bought some Hein Gericke heated grips when they were on sale at the end of last year. They seemed to be fine for a while, attached with nothing but friction. However after a few weeks, when heated up the throttle side starts to slip until it gets so bad that I can barely accelerate.

I have tried reattaching it with carpet adhesive, which was rock solid until heated when it does exactly the same as before. Then yesterday I cleaned all that off and used some maximum hold hair spray...same problem.

Could this be a problem with my grips expanding when hot, or am I just using the wrong adhesive?

My oxford heated grips do the same thing, the throttle grip will slip slightly when on full power. Though I have yet to use any glue for them, mainly due to laziness Laughing

My grips did come with some glue, Im not sure what sets it aside from any other type of glue, but surely it will solve the problem.

See if you can get any grip glue from here/ebay?

Yeah actually buying grip glue would be the obvious solution. I'm taking the bike in to get new tyres some time this week so maybe they'll be able to sort it. I was just wondering if anyone had an easy solution.

Mine don't just slip at full throttle, they slip at any throttle...which is just a massive pain...

my oxfords do the same, but remember if you glue them in place then the only way to get them off if needed will be to cut them, I get round it by wrapping electrical tape around the twist grip then fitting the heated grip so its a good tight fit.

Exactly. That's why I haven't just gone and covered them in super glue.

Electrical tape might be an idea. I'll give that a go tonight and report back!

Recommended by many people if you search online. It's as good as carpet adhesive... Both are fine for normal grips but the heat seems to turn both into lubricants.

I had this same problem, I too didn't want to use too much glue in case I wanted to take them off again. After a couple of weeks of them loosening themselves no matter what I did in the end I had no option but to just about empty a tube of epoxy into the gap to get the damn things to finally stick for good. I believe epoxy can get stronger with heat.

In doing so I did discover a really good way of breaking the glue to take them off again - ram a flat-headed screwdriver down underneath them and work it round. Even with the amount of glue I did end up using I'm confident I could still get them off doing it that way.

I'd go with the lockwire option - it's what I do and my grips are on nice and securely.

Used the electrical tape idea and it seems to have them on nice and tight...but I snapped my throttle pull cable in the process. Embarassed
