How do i rediscover it again? 7 years ago i lived soley for motorbikes and used to go out on it at every oppurtunity. Used to visit Rivington barn every weekend and remember doing 10,000 miles every year.
Now i commute every day roughly 20 miles there and back and thats it for my bike riding,i think the last time i rode just for pleasure was a may bank holiday last year.

Now im wondering how to ignite that passion again, i nearly give up bikes this year and got a car.

Wondering if there is some exciting roads i could try in the north west to get the excitement back etc.

There may be some better routes further from Bolton but these are some of the routes I go on my CG. If I can enjoy them on my 125 then i'm sure they must be better on a bigger bike!

Route 1: This route ends up going to rivi, for some reason It feels better going up there after doing a big ride.

https://goo.gl/edxMT

Route 2: Once you turn off Rochdale Rd it's a bit boring heading back home but the first parts are mainly 50/National speed limit roads.

+1

Why not get yourself a new bike, something different to you're used to, go out and find a new way to work, might take a little longer but adds a sense of adventure orrrr, get a commuter hack and save the big bike for the weekends.

Failing that, maybe it is time to hang up your helmet for a while until you get the itch to get back on your bike. You also have to remember it's been a shit winter.

I'm in pretty much the same position.

For me, as long as I am commuting on it I have no desire to ride for pleasure. Not sure how to break it, guess not commuting on it might work but I suspect that if I did that I'd just leave the bike to rot at the back of the garage Thumbs Down .

Route one is my commute home from Darwen, I come from Darwen and go over Tockholes road and then onto the A675. Its a cracking road, But this morning something clicked, i was pretty much pinned on the red line all along the long sweeping bends on it before Belmont and decided with a bit more ooomph i would be more excited.

I think the problem is, although i have rode bigger bikes since passing my test in 2009, i have never owned more than a 125cc.

So since i first started at 18, back in 2004 i have been riding 125's, so 8 years of 125's its no wonder I'm bored.

Hoping to get my 125 sold quickly this month and buy my Mum's partners Suzuki GSR 600. Which I'm sure will bring back the excitement.

I mean i enjoy my commutes, i just seem to want to go for a Mountain Bike ride as opposed to a blast on the motorbike when its sunny.

I'm defo not a car person, i enjoy being driven in a car, but i just dont get excited by driving cars. Anything from a 900 cc Fiat Cinquecento, Driven my Uncles Audi RS4, Dad's Astra VXR and a mates Scooby, yes their quite quick but too cocooned.

I think i need a change of bike and then it will all come flooding back. And also to find some new places to go to. I want to find a nice route to a Coastline, and then park up and look out to sea. There is Blackpool, but thats a dump Laughing

As Donny said, the reason you are bored is highly evident.

Get rid of your 125 and get something more flickable/agile/faster like a 600 naked/sports or even better get a big single supermoto/dirt bike which you can commute on and take over into the fields to have a laugh on.

I know for a fact that around 80% of the time I have oodles more fun on my KDX200 dirt bike over the fields on ramps/humps/jumps, doing wheelies and getting dirty than I do on the roads riding my GSX-R.

Just think about what appeals to you about biking. Going fast on a supersports on the road that you could take to a track and commute on OR some kind of supermoto/dirt bike you could commute on and take off road/greenlaning and have much more legal fun without the worry of losing your licence like you have on a supersports.

Best of luck!

Bike I'm supposed to be buying is a Naked 600, Can't really do a Sportsbike posture anymore as it kills my back and feels really on the wrists through Traffic (My 125 does Hyosung GT125R) So a nice sit up and beg will do.

I'm excited by the acceleration of bikes mainly and being able to sit at 80 mph comfortably is what i want for commutes.

And something i can enjoy on tight and twisty roads.

Just need to find some nice twisty roads.

I think alot does stem from boredom on a slow bike now. I could probably lean further on the 125 but i can't get any quicker on it now, i seem to have hit the wall and need to learn something new.

And work my way up the power levels.

He said that he rides his bike to work daily, me being in the same situation realise that riding through the winter isn't the most enjoyable thing to do at times.

Probably should of said "it could just be winter blues". Though I thought what I actually meant was clear

Had lost my interest, hence why the Busa has taken nearly 2 years to get sorted, that and the fact that i have got a few more toys now and riding just seemed less interesting, but got a call from the shop a few hours ago telling me that it's all sorted and ready for collection.

So flying home, i hope tomorrow, pick the bike up on Monday and i am really looking forward to swinging my leg over it.

Do a trackday?

I don't expect to get much of a 'buzz' from road motorcycling really - it's a pleasant day out, like taking the dogs for a walk in the local country side.
Off-roading is also good fun and generally cheaper, though needs a new bike really.

Agree. I've wanted a go at this for a while, looks and sounds pretty fun... but the other bike option isn't possible at the moment Crying or Very sad

I've had my zx9 down a greenlane before, did ok Smile.

To be fair, wouldn't want that to be my first off-roading experience, however (actually, my first proper 'serious' one was on my DR600 with supermoto tyres that didn't even have the 1mm road legal tread left, but that's another matter!)

Oh I've taken the GSXR across fields, down muddy stone paths and stuff as an "adventure" but never really had a road bike with offroad tyres and had a go around the lanes... shame really. Thumbs Down

Get a new bike, book 2 weeks off, ride to italy and back. If you budget can stretch to it.

Exactly -- start thinking about the travelling itself, the places you are travelling through rather than just 'riding the bike' find different routes to work, go get yourself lost in a national park somewhere, and enjoy seeing places, almost take your mind away from the enjoyment, or lack thereof, that you are getting from the bike itself. Get happy trundling along slow roads in amazing places, and green laning sounds like just thing for weekend blasts.

A bigger bike will probably entertain you for a bit, but it will never last, as we become accustomed to what we have and you will always want more, and one day you might find yourself with an R1 in the garage, having more fun riding about on a Cub!

I came off the TLR in October...it’s taken me a wedge of money and time to get back on the road but I’m so happy I’m back.
I must admit, the TLR is everything i want in a bike. It is the best bike I’ve owned. But the things i miss have been ragging around on a smaller bike not giving a shit about the condition of it and putting some serious miles down.
I’m going to book some time off to go off the TLR soon. If and when i have some spare cash I’m going to get something smaller to go out and do something different on.
