There may be some better routes further from Bolton but these are some of the routes I go on my CG. If I can enjoy them on my 125 then i'm sure they must be better on a bigger bike!
Route 1: This route ends up going to rivi, for some reason It feels better going up there after doing a big ride.

Route 2: Once you turn off Rochdale Rd it's a bit boring heading back home but the first parts are mainly 50/National speed limit roads.

Route one is my commute home from Darwen, I come from Darwen and go over Tockholes road and then onto the A675. Its a cracking road, But this morning something clicked, i was pretty much pinned on the red line all along the long sweeping bends on it before Belmont and decided with a bit more ooomph i would be more excited.
I think the problem is, although i have rode bigger bikes since passing my test in 2009, i have never owned more than a 125cc.
So since i first started at 18, back in 2004 i have been riding 125's, so 8 years of 125's its no wonder I'm bored.
Hoping to get my 125 sold quickly this month and buy my Mum's partners Suzuki GSR 600. Which I'm sure will bring back the excitement.
I mean i enjoy my commutes, i just seem to want to go for a Mountain Bike ride as opposed to a blast on the motorbike when its sunny.
I'm defo not a car person, i enjoy being driven in a car, but i just dont get excited by driving cars. Anything from a 900 cc Fiat Cinquecento, Driven my Uncles Audi RS4, Dad's Astra VXR and a mates Scooby, yes their quite quick but too cocooned.
I think i need a change of bike and then it will all come flooding back. And also to find some new places to go to. I want to find a nice route to a Coastline, and then park up and look out to sea. There is Blackpool, but thats a dump ____________________ JACK, MISS YOU LOADS YOU LEGEND. |

20 years ago, the average rider seemed to be 30/40 something and if you asked them how long they'd been riding, they'd more often than not say about 2/3 years.
It's the same now.
Very few people stay the distance.
For most it seems to be a passing phase, that very quickly get's replaced by some other pursuit.
It seems to me that only a very few actually stay the distance.
Recently, when renewing my insurance I got asked how many years continuous riding experience I had.
When I said, 30 years, the girl said gosh, you are a rare breed.
Really, I said, why is that.
Oh, she said, most of our customers have been riding about 3 - 5 years.
She went on to say that I am in the typical age group for the more exotic bikes.
For some, biking is in the blood and the thought of not having at least one bike is beyond their comprehension, but for most it seems, it's just one of a series of hobbies that middle age men will indulge in for a few years before getting bored and moving on to something else. |

Exactly -- start thinking about the travelling itself, the places you are travelling through rather than just 'riding the bike' find different routes to work, go get yourself lost in a national park somewhere, and enjoy seeing places, almost take your mind away from the enjoyment, or lack thereof, that you are getting from the bike itself. Get happy trundling along slow roads in amazing places, and green laning sounds like just thing for weekend blasts.
A bigger bike will probably entertain you for a bit, but it will never last, as we become accustomed to what we have and you will always want more, and one day you might find yourself with an R1 in the garage, having more fun riding about on a Cub! |

I came off the TLR in October...it’s taken me a wedge of money and time to get back on the road but I’m so happy I’m back.
I must admit, the TLR is everything i want in a bike. It is the best bike I’ve owned. But the things i miss have been ragging around on a smaller bike not giving a shit about the condition of it and putting some serious miles down.
I’m going to book some time off to go off the TLR soon. If and when i have some spare cash I’m going to get something smaller to go out and do something different on. ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.
