Drop bike off for a carb tune up..... whats the worst that c

Well i'll tell you what can happen.

Mr Mechanic Drops said bikes fuel tank which then rolls along his concrete floor causing numerous dents and scratches to the tank and filler. - Owns up to this and reckons he'll have it smart repaired (no chance, will need repairing, repainting and new decals)

Also manages to gouge a chunk of paint off frame, Scratch and chip the rear fairing where it meets the seat, rub the corners of seat on something damaging the fabric more than it already was, and scratch and chip the seat cowl too ( How the feck he did this i dont know!)

Then, Mr mechanic has the cheek to get arsey with me, saying that im taking the mick out of his "goodwill" by telling me about the damage! Yeah, because i wouldnt have noticed all the dents and scrapes all over my previously mint tank now would i!

Then further insults me saying well it is "JUST" an 8 year old bike!

Then smirks as he says all the extra damage wasnt him and he'll only fix the tank. Managed to get him to agree to the seat cowl as well after some serious assertiveness ( bordering on aggressive if im honest ) but still have the frame to sort and the rear fairing.

Not impressed at all! However on the plus side,My carbs are now better than ever, and he reckons my cush drive rubbers are worn and thats whats causing the judderyness under 3krpm. Another thing for the list!

will upload pics tomorrow when i get chance, as i have a way early start tomo and need my sleep!

Sadly, it's your word against his. It sounds like he's the sort of twunt who'll just go into full denial mode if you push for a full repair.

So I'd first just take everything you can out of him, then go down the legal route, and name and shame.

Aside, a local Lair of Lies has accidentally caught fire. Twice, that I've heard of. Bad show, there could have been customers' vehicles inside.

Im not going down the name and shame route just yet, giving the fella a chance to put right before i out and out screw him over. Dont get me wrong, if he doesnt have it done to my 100% satisfaction i will be going down the legal route, and he will be named and shamed here, as well as every other forum i use.

He has contacted me today and made the arrangements to have the painters sort the bike out. I will be taking it up there on friday and telling the painter exactly what i expect, which i have already told the mechanic/shop owner. I am not inexperienced when it comes to bodywork matters, and i know without doubt that there is no way that the tank can be sorted properly without a full strip down, repair and repaint. This will then of course mean new decals and new tank pad. The fuel filler will also need to be sorted as that is scratched too. and obviously the rear seat cowl. Here's some pics of the damage. Some of you may see it as pretty minor really i suppose, but i dont care, Its my bike, and it was nigh on mint when i took it there so im not accepting a billy bodge up repair job on the damage he has caused to my previously mint panels!

How the eff did he manage that? He might sort it he might not, for me thats not the reason to name and shame, the reason for the naming is so that no-one elses bike ends up in a mess like this because of his complete lack of care and cack-handedness!

I dont want it happening in the first place, let alone having to have my bike repaired 'well'. He's got to have either been pissed, let the YTS lad have a go at it or its slipped over and he's laid it down and its caught a few things on the way down.

Check EVERYTHING for bends and twists.

What a useless nob end, don't let ANYONE you know go to this garage!!

have thoroughly checked the bike over, it hasnt been down, he's just dropped the tank and chucked the seat down without any care or consideration for it.

I will not be naming and shaming, and from what i have heard since this happening, the place in question has a reputation for being slack, cutting corners, and generally not giving a fuck. So if you live in Portsmouth, and want work done on your bike, ask for recommendations, because this place will not come up!!!!

Guys - believe me. I want to name and shame, but i am being ( probably far too) fair and giving him a chance to sort it first.

For now, he is making all the right noises, until i talk to the painter in person i dont know whats been said to him, but once i do ill make my mind up as to which way to take it.

Dont think for one second that im going to be mugged off, because im seriously not that kinda guy. It WILL be sorted to my satsfaction, one way or the other.
