A small screwdriver worked for me. You have to basically lever one of the 'legs' up, hopefully not resulting in it going ping and flying away. |

If its an 'o' ring chain, then you will need to use the rivet link. I am guessing this is on a bike greater than 400cc...
You will need a special chain riveting tool to connect the chain correctly. If you do not do this and use the split link that comes with the chain, it must be done only as a temporary measure.
If you have no chain rivetting tool, then I suggest that you keep the old chain on and get a garage to replace the chain.
Its definitely worth replacing the sprockets too while you are at it because the worn sprockets will only kill the new chain in short order.
Hope this helps! ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade

Defenately change the sprockets as said, otherwise your just going to waste money!
To be honest if you dont have the propper tools then get sombody else to do it this time, chains are not to be messed with, too tight they will snap.. which is bad, too loose and it will jump off the gears, which is bad...
Ive seen all in one tools for £40 which if your going to allways do them yourself is a worthwhile investment (if you plan on allways owning a bike chances are it will have a chain) ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |
