 |
|
Ok so im selling my 125 and getting a DRZ400 or CRF450, i really miss my CRF and dont have the money to buy another one and pay for a new road bike so i was thinking killing 2 birds with 1 stone,
buying a already road legal CRF would be awesome as i can ride on road and also take it motocorss, (wont be riding bike to track)
but then again its not the most piratical bike to have on the road so the DRZ is my next option.
i wont really be commuting much on the bikes just mainly for joyrides out and such,
ive checked with my insurers and they didnt ask if the CRF was restricted so yeah result.
with the CRF i will be having both SM wheels and MX wheels just switching them over when i go track.
So im asking if this is a smart move If i went and got a CRF ? or more easier to get a DRZ ? ____________________ owned bikes: DR50, Thumpsta 110 , Honda CR85, Speedfight 100, Yamaha XT125X, Honda CRF450, Honda Hornet '07

Always wanted a sm but heard they aren't the most reliable. Do they require a lot of maintenance?
OP good luck in whatever bike you choose. |

If you're going from a CRF to a DRZ, it'll feel horrible, slow and heavy. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. DRZ is good, just quite gutless when it's stock. Love mine but can't wait to upgrade to a 690SMC soon ____________________ KTM 990 SMT & Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM |

As has been said, they are two completely different leagues.
When I was looking for a supermoto, I was considering a DRZ, or a YZF/WRF.
I ended up with a YZF450 supermoto.
After I sorted all the bits out on it, it turned out to be a cracking bike.
Covered plenty of miles on it, road and off road.
It only ever let me down once, and that's because the shitty ignition barrel corroded up.
I changed it for a jetski lanyard type ignition, and it was fine up until the day I sold it.
Due to my wheelie habbit, It ended up rounding the dogs off in 4th, but Pete the actual legend, stripped the engine, and re-cut 4th gear making it perfect again.
Just change the oil regular (I'm talking every 500 miles). And you'll be laughing.
Even cheap oil will do (I always ran Halfords own brand), as it's been changed so regular, it doesnt matter on the make too much.
Even retro-fitted some pillion pegs on it, and rode the 50 odd miles to Dover with rox in the summer.

@Bull well behind the front number plate bit there should he yellow tape warping up some wires when a head light was previously fitted
@binge the DRZ was more in favor but now its more looking like the CRF you say ignition barrel ? how would i go about fitting a electric start to a kick start bike ? ____________________ owned bikes: DR50, Thumpsta 110 , Honda CR85, Speedfight 100, Yamaha XT125X, Honda CRF450, Honda Hornet '07

Yeah, whats up with yor leg?
I could kickstart my WR in a flip flop.
De-compression lever just to pop it past TDC, 1 good kick and off you go.
I wish my Ktm had a kick, something satisfying about booting bikes into life. ____________________ Chase my Witch up, Catch my Snitch up.
