My RXS100 has died and I have been looking for a replacement. I am considering a GP100 in my local area.

The GP100 seems superficially quite similar to the RXS; my question is, are there parts that are interchangeable between these two bikes, should I decide to retain the corpse of the RXS100 - thinking of items such as switches, chain and sprockets, battery, brakes, cables.

Cheers,

Dan

Thanks for the responses, whilst not answering the question, it has however made me think that I should perhaps reconsider given the stock that a lot of contributors to this forum give to the RXS100. My only concern is the fact that whilst can fit tyres, brakes, gears, etc - basicall other moving parts where I can see cause and effect, I have zero experience diagnosing and fixing faults with engines and zero cash to spend on a whole new engine.
Sounds as though i had better start a new topic in The Workshop.

RSX Engine is as simple as they come. If you can replace drum brake shoes; you can rebuild an air-cooled two stroke single!

Support for the old Yams is FAR better than the less popular and more obscure Suzukis, as not only did they make a lot more of any individual model, they also did a lot of parts-bin raiding and made bits interchangeable accross many models.

Eg: headstock bearings in my DT175 are common to about twenty different bikes! Fork seals are same as DT100, RSX and a few others.

Stick with the Yam. Get a Haynes for it of you dont have one, and get brave with that motor.

If you cant 'handle' the mechanics on that; you're on a high road to no-where with an old GP100!

thanks Teflon Mike, this is the sort of thing I was hoping to hear, I've known for a long time that bits for the RXS100 are abundant and that they don't come much simpler, and am now reconsidering its fate.

Hi

To go to your original question, next to nothing will be easily swapped between the 2. Maybe handlebars, clutch and brake levers with pivots (ie, swap complete assemblies over).

All the best

Keith
