hi, can it be done? Thought Id have enough with a 600 but a 2006 1200 bandit has come up for sale at £1k so thought Id see if its possible. Would be good if I could because I wouldn't need to change bike next year when I can go unrestricted

You can restrict anything, Kickstart on the Bandit forum makes/sells restrictor kits if you ask on there (it's not Keith, he's had to make do with a bit of an extended name )
A K6 1200 for a £1000 must be either in boxes or recently pulled from the bottom of a canal. ____________________ I used to be indecisive but now I'm not quite so sure. |

this is the full listing details
'This is my 2006 Suzuki Bandit 1200. The bike's current mileage is 19006. It is in exceptional condition for its age and mileage. I'm the second owner of the bike from new and I own it since summer 2011. The bike has a new rear tyre which replaced the original factory tyre (showing how gently these 19000 miles have been ridden). It has a bagster tank protector FSH until 2010, two keys, owners manual, log book, MOT until 09/2012 and 6 months tax on it. The only 2 minor cosmetic issues are that both wheels have several chips to the paint where the previous owner used an uncovered chain to secure the bike and a minor scuff on the exhaust pipe as a result of the bike being knocked off its stand in a car park. The bike has a Remus exhaust system which sounds really crisp and throaty with a mild pop and crackle on the overrun when you throttle down. This is the best model Bandit Suzuki have made it is the most up to date looking model which predates the fuel injected engines which just don't go as well. The bike goes like new and has been 100% reliable in the time I have had it. The oil and oil filter was replaced in 10/2011. OFFERS INVITED!. £997 ONO'
Pricing error? Has same price in the title but on autotrader isn't the price and the 'ONO' listed automatically ? ____________________ Ex bikes: 05 Suzuki En 125, '98 Yamaha Thundercat, '08 Honda cbr125, '05 Kawasaki z750, '03 Triumph Daytona 600, '91 Kawasaki ex250, '03 Hyosung Comet 125

Yep standard autotrader price "mistake" for free listing.
Bandit also weighs 214kgs dry, so thats 27kgs more than a Tcat, id bet the Tcat will be every bit as quick, if not quicker.
I own an unrestricted Thundercat, and it will hit a speedo indicated 150mph+ very quickly indeed.
All personal opinion of course, but Tcat is better looking, better handling, and better at stopping.... Only reason i can see to want a 1200 BLandit is to willy wave how your engine is twice as big as ya mates ( yet still makes same power and tops out at same kinda speeds ) |

had a reply:
Grant,
This 2006 Suzuki Bandit 1200 is in excellent condition with no issues. I'm asking £1000 for a fast sale. The bike is currently located in Glasgow because I just finished the divorce with my wife and I have moved here. I will sell the bike only using eBay's services, this way you'll get access to the buyer protection service (refund policy available), 3 days to inspect the bike and I'll be sure that I have a genuine buyer that isn't going to mess me around. Where are you located? Please email me as soon as you see this message because I have few other people interested in this bike.
Thank you,
David Mertens
I've attached here more pictures of the bike so you can see better what you are buying:
https://postimage.org/gallery/pwym8ba/
(copy/paste this link into your browser)
There are plenty of full size pictures showing, in full, every aspect of this bike, you can see them by clicking the link above. The link will take you to Postimage, a free picture hosting site. Click on any picture to see the full size image.'
Does this mean it is carbed? Any problems you can see? Scammer?

here we go... had another very suspicious reply. Obivously no trust in the seller at all now. But, how does he actually scam people if its through ebay?
Grant,
I'm working on an oil rig in Spain with Repsol Petroleum YPF so pick up is not possible but I can have the bike delivered to you for £150. However, before any delivery can be done I want to be sure that we do this transaction in the safest mode possible for both of us. I recommend we do the transaction using eBay's buyer protection service since they offer the highest rate of safety and reliability during online transactions.
eBay will act as a third party between us to create confidence; you will also have access to a refund policy on this transaction, no obligation to buy and no fees involved if you won't accept the transaction's terms.
If for some reason, you won't keep the bike (I assure you that is NOT going to happen since my bike is in IMMACULATE condition) I will take it back on MY EXPENSE and eBay will send you your money back.
From the moment you receive the bike you have 3 days to inspect it. If it's not like I said or something is not ok with it you can reject it and eBay will fully refund you and the bike will be delivered back to me on my expense.
The bike will be delivered directly to your requested address as soon as I will have the payment confirmation.
In order to go ahead with the sale I need your full name, eBay username and address for delivery.
Thank you,

It shouts scam, but "looks" fairly safe...still wouldn't do it
So what he wants to go through ebay...paypal would be a lot safer, you probably would never see the bike though. |
