Ok. I remember a while ago, someone posted complaining their NSR held back for a short time at about 6000-7000rpm (ish). Did you fix this problem coz now mine does it?

Check carb and spark plug.

Not a guru on 2 strokes.. but I had a similar problem and was sorted after a carb cleanup and plug re-gap.

when i was first getting used to the bike and i changed gear going quite fast and it dropped into the 7000rpm range i noticed it took a second or so to get the bike pulling again even when ive got the throttle wide open.
Ive sold this problem by learning how to change the gears better......
and not suffered with any flat spots since

It seems to happen when i accelerate (even in first gear) and when i hit 6000rpm ish it will suddenly hold back. A sort of stutter, then it will pick up agian at about 7000rpm and pull away like the bollox!! Laughing

I think i will change the spark plug and clean the carb out. Cheers guys!!

Probably get better when it warms up, when ive warmed mine up and take it into the powerband for the 1st time it holds back magorly at 6000!

I havent had an NSR, but a lot of bikes have flatspots just before the power bad kicks in, its where the engine starts to 'race'. My TZR was at roughly 5000rpm, i wouldn't ride with the revs there because it just wouldnt run smoothly.

My FZR400 had a similar problem at 5-6K rpm but much more noticeable, just adjust your gears so you don't wind up sitting on it.

A flat spot in the midrange is normal. 2 strokes seem worse for it when the spark plug is getting old. Also, check the power valve is working and not stuck open

My guess is that a new plug will greatly reduce the problem
