WOW, its finally come, I got my first nod in 8 months of riding, getting ignored everytime i nod at a big bike. Cool

Fair enough Im riding a moped, but everyone has to start somewhere! Its not like I choose to ride a moped rather than a big bike, just age restricts me Rolling Eyes

Well who ever nodded at me in old Harlow a couple days ago on my return from work, I applaud you, why have all you others gotta be so ignorant, all moped riders arent the same? Shocked

The weird thing is, if some random bloke in the street, dressed head to toe in leather, nodded at you, you'd run a mile.

Unless you're the 999kid.

sadly there is somewhat of a stereotype towards mopeds. It is automatically assumed (not saying its right at all) that everyone who rides a moped is a chav who only has it to tear ass around causing havock until they are old enough to buy a car and have no interest in biking whatsoever.
Like I say, not saying its right, but it seems to be the way it is, unfortunately guys like you who is into biking, will also be put into this group.
Just stick with it mate Thumbs Up when you get a bigger bike then you'll get your nods Very Happy. I felt the same

I don't nod much anyway. Occasionally I will nod to a moped but generally only when they are in proper full gear and not riding like an idiot. That way I know he's probably not some chav who shouldn't be riding like the one I saw when driving the other day.

He was wearing trackies, shirt, helmet (which was undone I might add), no gloves, had both his legs/feet hanging off nearly dragging along the floor and was looking everywhere except where he was going. Absolutely lethal.

If someone nods at me, I will pretty much always nod back out of courtesy, but I only nod at people every now and again, mainly on nice sunny days which are hot and there are a lot of bikers out, like to nod as if to say:

"Great day, eh?".

At times like that, I find a lot of people reply.

True, it's unfair. However I didn't have a choice and could not a afford a decent 125 so I gave in and bought a cheap chinese scooter (to which I now regret).

I get stares now and then, but the odd biker gives a nod.

You chose to ride an automatic scooter style bike - that's nothing to do with age.
Did you nod at me when I was driving past in my lorry? Why did you have to be so ignorant?

Actually, generally I will nod at a ped if they nod at me.
But that's besides the point - you're not seen as have the vehicle which defines the "community", so you're not acknowledged as being part of it.
If being nodded means that much to you, get a real bike.

You can still get reasonable jap 125s for not that much if you keep an eye out for bargains.

Very Happy I'll give that a try. Mind you, only to another scooter!

Just do it to the bigger bikes, you will probably get a better response if there is a group of them aswell. There no better than you, they just have a piece of paper to say they can ride a big bike for 40 mins without falling off Laughing

1. Strangely I do nod at truckers as it probably surprises and lightens their mood slightly on long journeys to why not Mr. Green

2. I know I could get a geared 50 but for the extra money it will cost and the fact its trying to be something its not and changing gear every 5 mph isnt that appealing, however if there was one similar to the price I bought my current ped for then yeah i'd of possibly gone for it on the fact its good practice and can corner better, due to lack of funds I couldnt Sad

3. If the 'trucker' for example had instigated the nodding like I do to other big bikes and I ignored it then yes you could call me ignorant, but that's not the case so your truck argument is pointless isnt it Rolling Eyes

However ill take on what you said and agree with most of it as you're obviously more experienced and knowledgeable Confused Mr. Green

Do you get annoyed when the truckers don't nod back?

If you're really looking at every truck driver well enough to know if they've nodded to you, I would suggest you should pay a lot more attention to the rest of the road, or you're going to end up dead soon.

Still regularly see cheap 50cc bikes around - I suspect other factors are involved.

What about electric push bikes? Never get any nods when out on mine, yet it's pretty similar to a scooter.

I nod at L platers moreso because i kinda feel like we're in the same boat, unelss they've riding like cunts (usually the local pedboy) in which case i shake my head

Thumbs Up

Thumbs Down

Full license holders dont care as much because they've been doing it longer, but it's a nice bond with people who ride bikes. We all inherently have each others backs, most of us would stop if we saw a crashed bike, where as when driving a car and seeing a car collision aftermath, you'd go by like lol good job fags
