 |

Hi guys.
I was wondering what your thoughts were on this as it has happened a couple of times in the 5 years I've been riding. I don't really get why people think it's acceptable.
I was late for uni today and I gunned it from the lights. There was a biker on a new looking GSXR behind me and I'm guessing he interpreted it as me trying to race him. In reality, the only thing I was racing was the clock.
I was riding along at maybe 50mph and approaching a car in front. I wanted to get a better view and I was considering overtaking. Although there are a couple of pinch points ahead and visibility isn't great due to the road bending to the left.
I checked my mirrors before I did my lifesaver. I didn't have time to do the lifesaver. The bike blasted past me at possibly around 80mph+ accelerating as hard as he could.
I have no problem with people riding fast or anything like that. My problem was that I felt I could have tapped him on the shoulder as he went past.
I'm guessing he perhaps thought I was trying to race him and he was doing it as a bit of a "look at me I'm faster" sort of thing.
I can understand riders passing cars reasonably close, because when it comes down to it, it's the rider that gets it. I have to say that it's not acceptable when it comes to passing other bikes a bawhair from them.
Nothing wrong with riding fast on the road. I just don't think it's acceptable doing it that close to me when you can take me out too.
Here's the thread where it happened before:
https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=196500&view=next&sid=6d72df00fc0270bb269b333bb1033a85
This is only the second time I can remember it happening, but then again I don't get too many bikes on my commute.
I normally position myself out to the far right of my lane to get a better view, except on right hand bends where I'll put myself towards the left to do the same. Lucky I didn't just move to the right without checking my mirrors and was going to do a lifesaver. |

this really bugs me when other bikers do this, bikers are a lot smaller than a car so why don't they fuck off into there own space rather than being right next to ya when overtaking, i always overtake a lot wider, some people just dont think, one gust of wind you would have both been off. ____________________ GOOD GAME BODYGUARD: https://i.imgur.com/8WePGgf.jpg

Happens to me all the time in London traffic, just have to accept it but it's very annoying when bikes/scooters get close enough to knock my mirrors. I prefer not to compete and usually arrive next to them at the next trafficlights anyway |

Happens all the time. Head up the A82 on a sunny day at a reasonable speed making full use of your lane, and you'll be near deafened by a stream of Manny Midlifes giving it 12,000rpm two feet from your ear.
Not using all of the other side of the carriageway while overtaking is a sign of rampant faggotry, needless to say. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
