Just had my first off

Well, coming home from sixth form this afternoon i was going around a roundabout. Corsa was on the outside lane as i entered the roundabout, got just even with it just before the exit then she decided to carry on going round the roundabout. No indication either. I pulled some front brake but she was too close, clipped the back corner of the car and came off. Helmet and jacket did their job well. Had jeans on as it was just a day at sixth form so i'm left with a numb bum and road rash up my lower back.

As you can see the damage isn't too bad, she has taken it onboard that it was her fault. Think i'm just gonna buy the parts rather than claiming, my premium is high enough as it is![/code]

You can't presume someone is going to turn or not....you should've gone round the roundabout again (or timed the gap better) as you put yourself in a poor position imo....I think an insurance claim would go 50/50 IF you were lucky. Glad you're ok though

yeah the engine casing pretty scratched, not leaking or cracked as far as i know.

She said she decided to turn right just at the end to avoid the traffic but she takes full responsibility. Obviously any driver could decide to keep going round the roundabout, but i've never seen it whille riding and wouldn't tip toe around cars at roundabouts just in case they did. Possibly will now though

Unlucky, mate, but you'll be very lucky to win a claim as you're supposed to give way to anyone in the outside lane of a roundabout..

That said, I did win 100% against someone in an almost identical scenario so all is not lost. The biggest difference between your accident and mine is that she hit me rather than vice-versa and that might have been the clincher as I was ahead in the manoeuvre.

Anything after 12 O'clock should have been in the right hand lane. Hopefully she doesn't change her story and you get your bike sorted. Road Rash sucks though.

Sure she was in the wrong lane but you should have noticed at the junction before the collision that she didn't exit and thus was continuing in that lane, which should have given you a lot fo time to think about what to do (whether to speed out or slow and let her pass)

right?

We have spoken to her as she was young as well and we spoke to her about not claiming but her paying for my damages. She seems okay about it, but obviously people can totally change their mind at this time so we're going to speak to her again tomorrow.

The point is that she was literally AT the exit of the junction, like a meter away from being out of the roundabout and then she just turned like 90 degrees in front of me. My obs around roundabouts will be more attentive now I've had this off.

I am looking at around £550 including helmet, when i next speak to her we will see where we are going with this incident.

Get in touch with your insurance asap and at least get it logged as a notification. Looks iffy if she suddently decides to not pay up and a week after the incident you contact your insurance..

I'd claim. Hornets are known for being instant write offs following an accident as the frame bends in some odd places.

Add in the cost of getting the frame checked... hopefully you have all her details. I'd be ringing my insurers. Roundabout are give way to the right when you are wanting to pull off.. her choosing the wrong lane onto the roundabout then entering your path, its simply her fault, no quibble.

I have PLENTY of non fault claims on my record and none have touched my insurance premium.
